Couch to 5K update and APB on FATTY ED

Not really going from the couch, as I have been in the gym at least 2-3 times a week since January, but all my cardio has been limited to elliptical machines. So one of my FS buddies inspired me to have a new fitness goal so this is it. I thought it would not be hard since I have been doing lots of cardio... NOT SO! But today was a better day. Found some old cross trainers that are much kinder to my frame than the hard soled indoor soccer shoes I was using. Today I did a full 5K... in 50 minutes (translation "SLOW")! Alternated between walking 3 min at 3.8 mph, then jogging 1 min at 6.5 mph. Heart rate stayed between 118 and 138 the entire time (after the first run), so a decent cardio workout (450 cals burned). started to feel better near the end and did the last 2 runs at 7.2 mph. Apparently, running uses differnt muscles than walking... who knew? Felt fine during the run, but 3 hours later, I am starting to feel the combined effect of yesterdays leg workout (added squats) and todays running (or pounding if you prefer). I don't see how the newbies on the Biggest Loser ever run... I am below 200 and it still causes lots of aches both during and after! Anyway, I felt like I accomplished my first 5K when I was done... can't wait to say "I RAN my first 5K"!

APB on FATTY ED

Has anyone been in contact with Fatty Ed lately. We were communicating pretty regularly before and he was very active commenting on other folks stuff, but he seems to have disappeared. Last post I saw he was doing good but mentioned he had twisted his ankle at work... then silence. Any intel is appreciated.

I wish I could run but between my asthma and my back damage from the car wreck, not happening. But you had me curious. I do walk every day and today I walked 6.86 miles (working off that pizza so did a bit more than usual). Anyway, I did the conversion and that's 11 km. So, with you in distance if not in effort.
