Cleta's Journal, 22 November 2021

I am hoping I will feel okay for Thanksgiving. We will be having it at our church multi-purpose room as no one has enough room at their homes. I do have to be there as we are having a family talk about what to do if I or their Dad pass away. This was brought to them suddenly when I was in hospital with collapsed lung and covid. They had so many questions to ask and I couldn't answer them. Sorry for the personal stuff but it is on my mind and it seems to be all I can think about. My advocate did awesome while I was there but we missed some items and I am nervous about them.

Better get off or I will be telling you how many times I use the bathroom. lol

Wishing you good health. Those are hard conversations, but it's a gift to loved ones to have a plan.

If you can’t be real here, where can you be? So smart to discuss plans. Face the worst, plan for it and then live to prove you can. In reading over your logs I have a suggestion that works for me. I had my husband add a office swivel chair in the kitchen and we moved all my basic supplies to the lower cupboards. Now I can be more involved in kitchen prep by rolling around. Also added a flip down table by the refrigerator so I can unload onto that for easy reach of items I need. I got an electric jar/can opener and an electric slicer. Best to you. ✨

Sparkkg- That is a great idea except our kitchen is just a hallway with appliances and sink on one side. I cannot even get my walker in it to reach the back door. The only things I can reach is the fridge and the sink. Our home is one of the Sears Kit Homes from early 1950's... Wish it were bigger.

Not a pleasant thing to have to discuss but a necessary one...we had a really good friend pass from Covid who in his will made my husband executor of his will, spelled out exactly what he wanted people to have, but never one word about what we should do for him. It was a hard decision to make when we never had a discussion about it with him. Enjoy your time with family!🤎🧡🍗🌾🍂🍁

Cleta, we adapt with what we have. Joy with that you have a helpful husband. I so need to design a better walk system. I have chronic episodes of falls, not being able to walk, but many times the walker gets more in the way than helps. Additionally, mine won’t fit in my tiny car so can’t be helpful away. I once saw an 1800’s bustle that included a seat for ladies. I’m thinking side bars “pants” that would scissor out and have a brace around the hips, so you could be hands free (walking more upright), with knobs to lock on stairs and a folding pad to sit. I’ll get right on that lol.

SparkKG- When you get it all figured out and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg let me know. I have a knee that gives out at odd times. I was suppose to have knee surgery the end of August but it was postponed when Hubby tested positive. I wound up in the hospital just 8 days later and now I cannot even plan it for another 6 months, so walker-bound I am. My last fall almost took out my right eye when I landed on a magazine rack with ornate thingys poking up. I was only 1/4 inch from the eye. Don't want that to happen again, rack has been moved. I never saw that coming. Didn't even get my first cup of coffee, it wound up on the floor Yes I have been blessed with a gift from God, we married 56 years ago right out of high school.

Right. Actually tomorrow at our dinner will be a design engineer, so seriously going to talk this through.
