Decided to take a break from recording yesterday. Not because I was eating off plan. Just because I didn't feel like spending the time recording.

Been tracking my measurements, weight, and some other signs/symptoms of my health in a tracker that came along with the exercise program I started about 7 weeks ago. Overall, I am down about 8 pounds since I began the program, but I also made some changes to my diet a few weeks before that, eliminating eggs, dairy, nightshades and peanuts. (already eliminated gluten, corn, sugar, and soy) Since then, I am down about 15 pounds. That is good.

But, I am a little frustrated with how I seem to have been stuck in place for the last 6 weeks. Looking at my measurements and changes in weight, and they have barely moved in that time. Big drop and first with the dietary changes, then another good drop the first two weeks with the exercise program. And now, stall. It is not just the weight, but also my measurements.

I do feel better. I feel more clear headed, and have more energy. My skin looks amazing, (for a 57 y.o.!) and my nails are strong and smooth. I can get around more easily than I could before. The exercise program incorporates functional movement (getting up and down off the floor going from one exercise to another, repeatedly), and that has made a big difference. I am so happy about all of these things. And they keep me motivated to stay on track with my program.

But, I am sick and tired of being obese. I have been working at this for longer than I care to think about. And that scale barely budges. I get all sorts of improvements in my general health and well being. But, I would like to see the side benefit of weight loss. This is not just because of my ego. But also the reality that carrying that extra weight is hard on my joints, and my blood pressure which is borderline, would be much better if I could drop some weight.

This is not quite a rant. More of a whine I suppose. And I know whining is unattractive. But, if you don't want to hear it, nobody is making you read this! And, I feel a little better getting it out of my system.

In the meantime, I will continue to work at this. Looking for other possible causes of this resistance to weight loss. Even if I never lose another pound (heaven forbid!!!), I will continue to eat this way. I do feel better, and my tastes have changed. I like real food. I like cooking and knowing what I am eating. And I love the improvements in my health that I have experienced. I do not want to lose those.

It is discouraging to stall. I know all to well. I agree though, the health benefits of eating right are great. I just finished my three weeks of total elimination today and plan to start the testing phase on Thursday. Interesting side note . . . it seems I may be sensitive to bananas. I've eaten them twice during the elimination phase with icky results. Who knew? Keep up the great work. Even without weight loss, it's totally worth it!

Maybe taking your carbs down 10g might get the scale moving again. Just remain focus, it will drop.

I was reading on a doctors website, that our body tries to hold onto the weight, that's the plateaus, but if you just stick with it, the body gives in and starts loosing again, I have been on plateaus for a month before I drop a pound and then the last one was 6 weeks or so, and I lost 4 pounds all of a sudden. Also I think your body has to go through adjustments and then it will start loosing inches sometimes before weight. If you are exercising and your body is building muscle, the muscle tissue is adjusting to that to. I see that you are grateful and so am I that I am not where I used to be, and I wont be here either soon. I am starting to go to where I want to go.

Wish I could offer some advice, but to me you are doing everything right. You are relaxed about your diet though? If not, could there be some stress/build up of cortisol? My fingers are crossed for you to get that whoosh of weight loss soon.

Such wonderful supportive words! Thank you! I have had a ton of stress in my life in the last year, but it is easing up a little bit, finally....will probably journal about stress soon...been thinking about the effects I have seen it have on my weight loss. I do recognize that just hanging in there is really the only option that exists, and as I wrote, it was a little bit of a whine. My inner child stomping her feet and pouting, and whining about how unfair it is! Have to give her a little space to vent sometimes, so I can carry on. Thanks Buddies!

Johanne, that is crazy about the bananas! Good luck with the testing phase. Expect your weight loss to stall a little then. As you reintroduce things that were problematic, you will be having a bit of inflammation. But, you will have solid knowledge about what is working for you, and what is working against you!
