The Thursday night Indian dinner birthday treat proved what I had expected, and I promised myself not to jump on the scales the next day, but I couldn't resist. As I had predicted I was up .7kg. This morning, the scales are back to pre Indian levels. Years ago I would have, tossed 'the diet' saying it didn't work, what's the use I need to enjoy myself.... and loads more excused to ditch 'the' diet.

Thank you so much yduj57 for your casein advice, and the ghee suggestion. I always thought ghee was made from water buffalo or yak milk so I've never fancied eating it. So yesterday I looked the recipe up on the internet, and rendered one and half pounds of butter. The 'protein' that I scooped off hasn't gone to waste, as our German Shepherd is having a spoonful of the stuff with his meal to encourage him to eat, he's so skinny with not eating much in this hot weather, so I think it might do him some good, and he appears to love it.

Another benefit of this wonderful LCHF is that mosquitoes hate you to be on it. I suffer a lot from mozzie bites owing to the fact that I just don't like the thought of putting chemicals on my skin. I've suddenly realised that I've not been bitten for a while, so I've looked this up on the internet and it looks like the pests don't like you to be in keytosis http://www.lowcarbforhealth.com/2010/07/mosquito-repellant.html

Onwards and upwards :) Have a great and successful weekend

Wow. Now that's interesting on so many levels. I am usually covered in mozzie bites but am not recently. Perhaps it is LCHF also. Well I never!

Hiya Jen, I ate an Indian last month as my birthday dinner. It was the first time i had come off LCHF since May and was a little concerned about i would feel putting on weight because of the Indian. I put on three pounds, howeverby returning to LCHF thenext day I lost the three pounds in a couple of days and a additional two!! Tomorrow I am going to celebrate my wedding anniversary with another Indian meal, my monthly indulengence :-). I know by sticking to my program the weight will decrease, and hopefully kick start another weight loss. I can also vouch i rarely get bitten by mozzies thankfully :-) good wishes in your weight loss :-)

Keep us informed Buffy how you get on without getting bitten. Jenny, I didn't realise but if you stay off the rice, Indian food can be low carb, but high in salt. I don't fear salt, only that it makes me hold water. Congrats on your wedding anniversary, and enjoy your meal.

To be honest, Indian food is the best diet I could ever be on, because I hate it so much I would never eat a morsel.... LOL!!!

Well as for mosquitoes: This is the least amount of bites I've had in fourteen years of living in Turkey. I have been putting camphor in the rooms in my house. But that doesn't cover me for when I am outside. I also don't like using chemical repellant. A mosquito did bite me in my house the other night because I felt him have a go in three places. But I put a new bite cream that I've got on straight away. This cream seems to be very good. The bites didn't come to much. Not as they normally due as I am allergic. So I can't work out if there is something in this LCHF ketone repellent thingy or not! I don't appear to have been bitten outside and I walk the dogs twice every night and sit in long grass and such. I'm inclined to think there may be something in it. It's certainly lovely to be bite free. Shame about the bad breath, constipation and exhaustion. I am carrying on regardless lol :)

Interesting about the mosquitos! I had never heard that before, but in retrospect, I have been much less appealing to the buggers than I used to be. I was the person covered in bites. Now, not so much. Cool! Glad that the ghee worked out well for you. It takes a little time, but I like knowing that the butter is grass fed, and I'd rather spend a little time, rather than a ton of money!
