Fledgist's Journal, 09 February 2011

After yesterday's whine about plateauing, I find to my delight this morning that I've come down off that plateau by a solid half-pound. Not only that, but I got into a shirt I'd bought a few weeks ago deliberately half a size too small. It had been intended as an incentive to lose weight. Behold, I can even button the collar!

I feel a lot better about myself than I did yesterday.
244.4 lb Lost so far: 92.6 lb.    Still to go: 76.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

First, congratulations again on your dedication. I believe that consistant exercise is critical to avoiding plateauing. I think that your body has a hard time going into "starvation" mode if you keep demanding that you body works hard. I got in the habit of exercising every day -- probably did not miss but a few days per month during my key weight loss period. I found that daily my weight could change a pound or more. The most likely cause for the short-term change was due to water retention because I had something salty the day before. I now weight in weekly.

I should add that I've been noting shifting water retention.
