ChristyLA's Journal, 20 March 2014

I went to the doctor's yesterday and was weighed. I was very happy when I saw a number that was only 4 lbs more than what I weighed when I was 15(!). And it made me realize that, according to my last weigh-in on Saturday, I'm only 5 lbs from being in the "normal weight" BMI category(!). It's amazing to think about. Another thing: when considering the difference in my weight when I weigh at home and when I weigh at the doctor's, I figured out I have lost 1 lb this week so far(!). If that's really the case, I'm totally shocked, since I've been eating more this week, so I anticipated I would maintain (or possibly gain slightly). I was not, and am not, expecting a loss, but I'll definitely be happy if that is what happens at my next weigh-in this Saturday :) We'll see...

LOL - I weigh less than when I was 15 but that's nothing to brag about since I tipped the scale at nearly 200 then... :-) Congratulations!

You've come SO far! Makes me wish I'd stayed with it a few years back. I've got a long way to go. I'm happy about my first 5-lbs, but being so heavy, I know that this is "the glow" period where I will drop a little more quickly and then slow to that 1-lb/week pace. Looking forward to it, though...

Thanks, Bella :) I was actually a pretty normal weight as a kid - up until I was 18 - then I gained a large amount of weight (over 100 lbs), so it feels good to get back to a normal weight for me. I feel like I've got "me" back :)

Thanks, LuC2 :) Five pounds is great! Don't worry about how much farther you have to go. If you enjoy the process, the time will go by quick. Enjoy each pound you lose and let it psyche you up to continue your journey. Celebrate each milestone and reward yourself (new clothes is a great one) along the way. It's been almost 2 years since I started my journey at 270 lbs, but I've stuck with it because I want to be slim and feel good so badly. You have your whole life ahead of you, so two years isn't a very long time. I'll be here with you along your journey :) You can do it!
