GlennM's Journal, 20 January 2011

The weather is supposed to be quite cold the next few days, as the saying goes (probably from medieval times) - "it is colder than a witch's t*t in a brass bra". I will try to do three vocabulary words today... diet is going OK, need to get out and walk soon, once the weather warms up a bit, hopefully next week. At least I'm not near Montreal; it is a few hundred-plus miles to the north and much colder up there all of the time...
Vocabulary word for Monday: destrier - NOUN: a medieval knight's warhorse. -------- Origin from Old French and Latin.
Vocabulary word for Wednesday: opprobrious - ADJECTIVE: highly scornful. ------- Origin from 17th Century from the base word 'opprobrium' - which is harsh criticism or public disgrace; from Middle English and Latin.
Vocabulary word for Thursday: accede - VERB: usually accede to: 1. assent or agree to. 2. assume (an office or position). ------- Origin from Middle English and Latin.
214.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 19.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 0.4 lb a week

Added note: the worries about my health or the health scare I was worried about are nothing at all! I had a CT scan yesterday and there was nothing to worry about, thanks all of you for your prayers and well wishes, I guess what is there is just arthritis symptoms. I am sleeping weird hours from working nights on the weekend. Anyway, Book 1 is done so it's onto Book 2, which is half as long fortunately and needs a good edit, so hopefully it will be done within a month too. Then I will type up all the short stories and edit them too. After that I will go back to that messed-up western and fix it up; I do like the book in many ways but it needs a lot of work but it will not be a lot if I do it every day in time, it too will inevitably be done in final draft form; and then it will be onto the fantasy books and those aren't completed yet. I have a busy year ahead, hopefully five books will be done by years' end in final draft form or close to it anyway. Thanks again everyone for your well wishes and prayers, I'm OK...

What Bren? You took off the funny comment from yesterday. All of us need to joke on here once in a while. The atmosphere on here can get stuffy at times. The funniest posts I ever read were when I first was on here and a woman remarked of her loveless marriage and older two children whom she nicknamed as basically little beasts and her wonderful three-year-old son who was not disrespectful. Those comments were priceless and funny - even if they weren't meant to be and it gave a picture of the life of an immigrant mother in America one normally does not see. Sometimes we need to laugh about things and not be so upset about nonsense. It is one of many problems with Americans, who more and more I see are not nice people in general, and why I am moving overseas as soon as I have the money. Have a great weekend ahead everyone!

I checked on that member from the past - tomorrow will be two years since she posted and she was fed up with the way things were going, and it wasn't as humorous as previous posts, it being the last. I realize once and a while some of us on here need to vent. Anyway, I lived overseas before and saw how nice foreigners are in comparison to Americans and hope to move (not to France - I've heard they've got rudeness covered compared to Americans), but I hope to move overseas to somewhere nice where the people are nicer...
