Better today.. but not great. Dad's birthday is today and I had forgotten to get him a present, so I went after work and got him a present and a german chocolate cake. His fave. I had a very small slice. Didn't make it to the gym. I bought a pilates DVD w/ resistance band (10 minute solutions... anyone used it before?) and a jump rope. I'm going to start changing things up with my workouts. And pilates is a great way to tone, isn't it? I took it for a while in college and really enjoyed it. Sadly, I only did it for a little bit before my schedule just got too hectic and I dropped out.

I meant to do the entire DVD tonight but my sister and her husband were over to visit w/ dad, so I visited w/ them too since I rarely see them (at least outside of work... I work w/ my sissy, haha). It was kinda nice to have the whole family together, it doesn't happen often enough. Maybe I will do a 10 minute segment of the DVD before bed.

I love skipping and my sis told me it's a kind of cardio. It works for me somehow. Keep it up!

The jump rope was a great choice. It takes a lot more coordination than other cardio exercises, but it is one of the best calorie burners out there. I remember one of my coaches telling me that if you could jump rope for five minutes straight (not at a slow speed) you were at the very top of cardio fitness. It sounds easy... until you try it. LOL

Haha. Yeah. I can't wait to try it out. Too icy out to do it yet... That would be a disaster. It has weights in the handles, which I thought was kinda cool. It also had some beginner jump rope exercises and a website to get more advanced ones later. It was only about $7 too!

I would disassemble it and take the weights out (at least until you get used to jumping rope as a workout). If you're not used to it, it will... well... it's not fun. You'll find out there are muscles in your forearms you didn't know existed. But hey, it burns more calories.

Hahaha. I will. Thank you. Maybe a change up like this is what I need to start loosing again.

Yup. You need to switch it up every month or so to keep your body from becoming too efficient (and therefore burning less calories) and to keep it from getting too boring.
