2ManyCurves's Journal, 27 January 2014

I really thought I would be down more than I am this Monday weigh-in. 2.5 pounds is a good loss for the week. Any more than that probably wouldn't be fat loss anyway. And, really that is pretty much on track for my expected weight loss. So I am really not trying to complain. But, I feel like I really worked my butt off and the non-logical part of me wanted to see the 170s as I jumped on the scale this morning. I did have a "cheat" day on Saturday. I probably won't have one of those again until maybe the week of Valentine's Day. I may be a little up from the soy sauce and excessive sushi. Also, my legs are pretty sore and feel very heavy following yesterday's long run. Nine miles completed and I felt pretty comfortable with my time at this point. My running buddy came over and ran it with me. She also told me that she had decided to try the full marathon with me. Her announcement was quite funny..."Well, I figure I have to die sometime." I love her enthusiasm.

Today is a rest day. Well, rest from running. I would kind of like to get in 30 minutes though on a short run, but my legs probably do need a recovery day. Running the hills yesterday was a little tough towards the end of the nine miles so I resorted to walking the big hills at the end. I think tonight I should do some upper body strength training. I really do not do that as often as I should. Maybe I will cycle for 30 minutes with no resistance too.

If I recall one of my earlier journals, I set a goal of 182 by February 1st. That being the case, I am going to do an early weigh-in on Saturday of this week. 1.3 pounds doesn't seem like a lot but the longer I have been losing weight, the harder it becomes to get rid of each pound.

Have a healthy week!

You're doing great! Happy your friend is joining the cause. If you eat healthy, you will be adding sooooo many miles that you will drop weight, a lot of weight. If you're looking ahead, after you reach your peak (20 miles) the program starts to scale back significantly weeks prior to your race to give you time to heal. This is when you can accidently put on some of the weight you will lose so watching your diet will be important. Really happy for you! You can do it!

It is tougher. I'm down 55 pounds since May 2013 with 45 more to go; the fight is getting tougher, and now on the advice of my doctor I'm adding calorie counting to my Weight Watchers program. I'm not a runner but need to walk more; activity is so important. You are doing great....I'm in awe of your running capability!!!!

Are you familiar with Amber Rogers over at Gokaleo.com?! The woman is a beautiful, strong, healthy person around 165-170. Weight should be secondary. She's my role model... Don't aspire to be less of a person (I.e. Weigh less); you belong here. Take up space. Be awesome. :) weight is nothing more than a measurement of the Earth's gravitational pull on one's mass. You could be 50 lbs lighter and too frail to run 10 miles!

Thank you all for the comments. I appreciate the support and it definitely motivates me to keep running. --Laurie---I miss ya'll too. I sort of dropped out of the challenge as I have been pretty focused on training for my half and now full marathon. And, I was just not doing a good job of getting into all of the tracking with the current challenge. ---Ennaejay--- I will check out that site. Kind of a busy day at work today so I am just now having a moment to stop and breath as I down my lunch. ---Tim---I really appreciate all the words of wisdom from a fellow runner. You are right about the fast day though. I have to figure out a better way to work my 5:2 in conjunction with my long run. My stomach sounded like it was gnawing on my backbone after I finished the run yesterday.
