Annabelle3117's Journal, 05 December 2013

Finally was able to record my weight, what a pain in the butt that is becoming. Holding steady at 215 today. I should really stop weighing daily, I know it's not good for ya lol.

So I've been thinking about all the obstacles that lie ahead between now and my final weigh in of 2013. Next Friday is my husbands work Christmas party, and they go all out. It's a huge catered dinner at a very expensive resort, and we all get fancy wristbands so we can drink all night long at any bar in the resort on the company tab. Oh, and we all get our own private fancy pants rooms to stay the night in the fancy pants resort for the night, and water park passes for the entire next day (my kids' favorite part). It's all very nice, but I need to come up with the lowest calorie cocktail I can find. Any suggestions? I can eat low carb at the dinner, and I can skip the dessert... but lawd I'm not passing up free drinks!!

Also upcoming is my family Christmas party, then actual Christmas. All insanely tempting events. of course it is perfectly possible to stay on track, I just need to plan ahead. I think I can, I think I can...

So yesterday I was chit chatting with my buddy about Rueben being eliminated from the biggest loser because he only lost two pounds. I believe he was eating... and eating... and eating some more. Working out those long hours, and weighing almost four hundred pounds... I would bet the farm on it. But anywho, this led to me talking about how it gets harder to lose weight as you get lighter. I'm sure my lighter friends know about this better than I. But I came to the conclusion that since I'm already at around fourteen hundred calories a day, I'm not going any lower. I get enough food that I feel satisfied, I can work in desserts/drinks if the occasion calls for it. Fourteen hundred is a happy medium for me. Soooo, when the going gets tough the only way to force off those pounds is going to be with even more physical activity. So I went ahead and decided on my new years resolution. I am going to start training for some 5k's!!! I've always wanted to participate, and last year we had that dirty girl mud run that looked like so much fun! I want it to be fun, I don't want to die lol. I've never been a runner, so I think I'll start running the indoor track a couple days a week in the new year. I'm super excited about it. We have some 5k's coming up in may and July that I would love to be ready to participate in!!! Fitness goals, I've read, can be a good way to boost weight loss. Two birds, one giant sweaty stone.

That about wraps up my thoughts for the day, suggestions always welcome!!

Have a great day everyone :-)

Just FYI, if anyone loves Yankee candles as much as I do, or if you are planning on gifting some you can use the promo code HOLIDAY to get twenty dollars off a forty-five dollar purchase at their site through December 20th. Thought I'd share :-)

Diet... changing it around a bit. I don't know what you're doing, but sometimes going low carb might tweak it. Change your exercise routine. Add different strength training, increase cardio??? I suggest that you have a good time and enjoy yourself at the bash. Not often a company treats their employees this generously. You'll know where to cut on the booze and food. Play it by ear. You've been on this trip long enough to know the ins and outs.

What is your favorite drink? My suggestion is to go with tequila shots with water chasers. that does it for me. But you can also go with run amd diet coke or 7 and diet 7 or burbon and diet something or water.... I would try my best to stay away from the real mixed drinks. As for the 5 Ks.... I would suggest trying something sooner than May. I wanted to do the 60 mile walk for breast cancer but ended up not getting to do it. It seemed though that because it was a long way away, I never really got started training either. Closer is better I think. Just my opinion...

I usually drink margaritas lol not happening right! I might do rum and diet coke. I'm usually a vodka girl though, vodka and cranberry but cranberry juice is loaded with sugar and calories so I think I'll pass on that. As far as a 5k sooner, my options are a santa run next week (lol) or May. There isn't anything going on during the winter here. I don't feel like doing a 5k in five feet of snow anyway or in five degree weather lol, so I guess May will have to work. I'm not concerned with motivation waning, in my personal experience the fitness part of this is sooo much easier than the dieting part. CR, I'm only going low carb for the Christmas party dinner. I'll be getting plenty of carbs in the liquor lol.

Vodka + Diet Coke is what I usually go with to keep calories low. But beware - I read a study that found that mixing diet soda with alcohol gets you drunk faster, so keep it slow and steady :)

Try a flavored vodka and diet 7up. The problem that I always have at bars is that they rarely have diet 7up or diet sprite. Onlt diet coke. I don't really care for that so - i stick with the shots. The water chasers help because the keep the calories lower and keep the potential side effects (day after issues) at a minimum

Oh and .... the Ruben thing. I agree with you. He has to be eating off the plan as much exercise as they are getting. I am the first to tell you that eating on plan does not ensure a weight loss. but when coupled with all that activity - how can a woman lose 12 pounds or even 9 pounds and a 400 pound man lose 2??? Something is just not right. I have never looked a the Biggest looser meal plans but I know I can't lose weight on Weight watchers and it seems to be similar. Maybe that is the problem, maybe he needs low carb and was getting low fat. Or maybe he was just eating too much of everything. Strange. But he does not need the money they give away I am thinking and he may have had other things to do with his time.... Sometimes I think that does happen.... I know I would get tired of Jillian but I'd stay to the bitter end for Dolvet. I think he is pretty :)

This may be a little odd for a professional party, but I heard a tip on this site a long time ago & wanted to pass it along. Have the bartender mix you a vodka & club soda & then squeeze in a little of the MIO or Crystal Light water flavor enhancers. You get fizzy, fruity cocktail without all of the calories in a typical cocktail. You just have to be willing to be a little sneaky or a little odd. :D

That does not sound odd at all. It sounds yummy!!!

I was also shocked about Ruben not losing weight. But, he did have a lot of health problems and sometimes eating less doesn't always mean you're going to lose weight. It could be water retention? For me, yesterday I ate the least amount of calories I have in weeks and I gained half a pound. So, eating too few calories may not be helpful and working out too hard isn't always the best option either. Look at the two guys on the blue team. One was working out "as his own pace" and lost the most weight. The other guy was all annoyed that he killed himself and barely lost anything. I'm a firm believer it's not always Calories in - Calories out.

I believe that for sure. It is not just the calories but the type of calories. We don't all lose the same way. But, something seems odd that they would not have figured it out by now.

Oh he was definitely over eating, perhaps over-carbing. Everybody has crap weeks when they're (for the most part) consistently losing, but he never had any consistent reasonable losses. When I was at 286 I could lightly watch my calories and wiggle three times a week for a 4-5 pound loss. It's a lot more work for less loss now that I'm smaller. At four hundred pounds plus exercise, he should have been seeing at the very least 6 pound losses. Do you guys remember that one guy a couple seasons ago, Rulon. He walked off the show after he got busted binging at night. Obviously the food is available, just saying. Real life is going to bring us highs and lows, no doubt about that, but in such a controlled environment and at such a high weight... Rueben was eating. He didn't even seem disappointed. Like you said Alex, he didn't need the money anyway. Socias, thank you for the tip with the MIO, I'll be a little crazy and give it a try for sure!! I will see if the bar carries diet seven up, they should. It's a very popular place, people come from far and wide to stay there. Shouldn't be much they don't have. I appreciate the tips, and the biggest loser chit chat :-)
