MY 60-DAY LIQUID FAST
Counting Down To My Slim Down
Day 51/60

ADDICTION

Addiction is defined as an abnormal psychological dependency on such things as gambling, food, sex, computers, video games, internet, work, exercise, idolizing, watching TV, cutting and shopping.

They say the first step is to recognize you have a problem in order to recover. So, how do I cope during the recovery stage? I realize that I can never recover by just not eating carbs for awhile. I know this because I have lost weight multiple times on Atkins and it never sticks. The fat cells empty out, flatten and sit there waiting for me to fill them back up.

I know my best way to recover from food addiction is to create a new life. Getting use to eating less food with lower calorie counts. If I don't create a new life, then all the factors that brought me to my addiction will eventually catch up with me again. Over eating densely caloric food.

I read that there are a few things that people need to change in order to achieve recovery. The most basic is to avoid high-risk situations; described by the acronym, HALT:

Hungry - Don't let yourself get too hungry!
Angry - Don't eat when you are angry!
Lonely - Don't eat to fill the feelings of loneliness!
Tired - Don't eat when you are tired!
