F8thful1's Journal, 18 September 2013

Hi all.....not sure if anyone reads these journal entries, but I've been gone for awhile and am back! Mostly, the journal entries are for the future me; it was helpful when deciding how to proceed to go back and read what I had written a couple of years ago. Wow.....I was doing great then allowed myself to get derailed by life events.

Thankfully I did not gain all my weight back; I did gain back about 12 pounds from my lowest point so that is what I am working on now.

I have tried a couple of goes at Weight Watchers, but I get to sucked into bad thinking (about sugar) when counting points. I have tried the 17 Day diet, which has some good features, but essentially what I always return to is this: I really cannot have much sugar at all. It ALWAYS sets in a motion a bad spiral, so low carb eating (low glycemic) is still the healthiest for me and it does produce results.

I look forward to reading what is working for others, and just going through this journey with the help of this website. It really is an excellent tool and has helped me keep accountable.

So, greetings from Oregon, and blessings on your journey.

I read posts occasionally :) I too had lost weight using this forum and then stopped. Life got in the way and I gained weight. I did not bother to weigh myself so I did not realize how much I had gained. it ended up being about 20 pounds. Enough to throw me from overweight to obese. I have been back recording everyting and journaling for about 2 months now and just got back to overweight. It is only about a 4 pound loss in 2 months but it is going the correct direction. The thing that I find interesting is that for the most part, I still recorded my food even when I was gaining. Maybe not every week but probably half the time. But I still gained. I think this journaling has something to do with it. not sure why but I seem to lose better when i journal. So - welcome back.

Hi F8thful1, You sound a lot like me. I lost 40 lbs for a hip replacement, but the incision got infected twice, & took over 6 mos to heal completely. I gained about 12 lbs back, but am getting back to serious business with weight loss. I want to lose at least 65 lbs by this time next year. I figure, I didn't gain all this weight (265 lbs right now) quickly, so I need to lose it SLOWLY. I'm not on a specific diet, but my Hubby is diabetic, so we're both watching carbs & fats & this works well for us when we behave ourselves. I just found this website about 3 weeks ago, & I think it will really help me a lot. I also live in Oregon, not far from Grants Pass. Good luck & blessings on your weight loss journey.
