GlennM's Journal, 24 October 2010

Doing well. It was overcast today but warmer than Friday anyway. The next few days till maybe Thursday or so it's supposed to get warmer. I went for a walk this afternoon about two miles and I have gotten it in the past three days. My feet felt arthritic before the walk and I didn't want to go but felt better after walking. I started to learn French this week and it helps me to study the Spanish too, I realize I know Spanish quite well except the verbs probably. I am almost fluent in Spanish and need to start watching Spanish TV regularly to become totally fluent. A former coworker who knew Spanish and French said despite her fluency in English that when she watched English sometimes it was hard to understand totally, Spanish is her primary language. This shows me even if one can fluently understand another language one can block it out at times. I think within a year I will understand French too - the first part is learning how to pronunciate what each letter is supposed to sound like and do it correctly. I think I will be in the 190s by spring if I continue to get lots of walking in - exerecise will help me to lose weight much faster than not eating enough...

Hi Glenn ~ sorry for my long absence, have been dealing with a lot of issues in my home with family. Things are working out though. You sound good and "pain free". This has got to be really great for you. And .... you're walking more from the sounds of it. Are you working on new stories or getting the older ones spiffed up? So you are taking French now? Congrats! I didn't remember you had wanted to learn it. Is it hard? Glenn, thanks for stopping in my journal and sorry for my long absence. Be well and I'll talk to you later.

Hii NN - I am typing up the first half of a different book that is a fantasy novel that probably has potential to one day be made into a movie. Then I will type up the nine or so short stories, which will make up a book of sci/fi and fantasy stories. Then I will quickly scan the first two books to send out as there is minor editing that might take two or three weeks to get done for each book as one is 600 pages and the other 300. I found out some interesting stuff on TV that I can add to the 300 page book the other day so will research the Internet and add a short bit to it I'm sure. Then there is the western, which needs lots of work. I hope to send out query letters this winter. By spring I hope to have four books in final form and then finish up the fantasy novel I'm typing up now. I bought a French study book with CD and am starting from scratch, but every French word I learn I'm making sure I know the word or phrase in Spanish already and most of the time I do know it... I am doing much better walking today not too much, fell asleep this afternoon and woke up with a migraine so had to take a caffeine pill and now an hour later I'm feeling a bit better. My typing is improving dramatically I've noticed lately. I have been off of here a lot lately as I have been so busy. The next two days the weather is supposed to be warm so I will hopefully get out and walk... thanks for checking in, NN...

Second language was very hard for me, I took 3 years of French and the teacher felt sorry for me. I am happy you excel in that department and are getting your daily walking in despite your arthritis. TOWANDA!!!!!

Hey Glenn, thanks for stopping by. Yea, this insurance is a real racket. Unfortunately, I need it. My bill last year all told was over $140,000. Where would I have been. I take the extra 'D' vitamin along with extra Calcium. Unfortunately, the cancer medication breaks down the bones, therefore, I HAVE to take the new drug to prevent Osteoporosis. I also take many other vitamins to insure my immune system stays strong. But....nothing is cheap and I guess I pay what I have to pay. $3,000 is better than $140,000 plus. At least now my deductible is met and all else is free. I still have about $3,000 worth of work left to be done on me this year alone. i.e. colonoscopy, PET scan, a 2nd ultrasound, plus my medications and Dr. visits. We are hoping for slight cooler weather for Halloween. We will see. Got all 3 grandkids to take out this year. Should be fun. Stay well Glenn, and talk to you later.
