Reina Estrella's Journal, 07 October 2008

Well, I'm busy trying to figure out how to eat while I'm on the road once again.

It's really tough to fly and take shuttles or taxis to your motel room from the airport...esp. since I don't have my car with me.

I don't want this weekend to make me fall off of my diet again, so I'm trying to figure out a plan of action for my next trip, which begins Thursday night.

I don't have a car when I travel and it's so hard to be able to drive to restaurants because taxis are SO expensive and are not covered by my clients.

I also can't rent a car because I'm not old enough, since you have to be 25 to rent a car and I'm only 21...

Any suggestions for me anyone? I don't wanna put off losing this weight anymore and want no more interruptions!

When I travel for business I pack snacks for myself. My snack packs might include laughing cow cheese, pepperoni, blueberries, raspberries, and hard salami. Then if eating at restaurants that don't "cook to order" I stick with salads, hamburgers, chicken sandwichs...stuff that I can strip the bread from and still fill up.

Thanks for the idea, but I still don't know how I can pack those things in my bag that I have to check in because I can't carry any type of food or drink through security...so I can't pack it in my carry-on. That's my main issue. Anything I pack would be in the hot underbelly of a jet for a couple hours and then probably get squished on the carousel in baggage claim some time later...ugh I'm so frustrated lol I really wanna do good this week!

If my luggage even gets to me at all...they lost my luggage on Saturday...I finally got it back, a day later...my food would be nasty by then... =(

I've also made a stop at a grocery store when I arrived in a city and planned my meals there. If in the burbs there are plenty of stores. If you are staying in downtown areas there are usually small markets near by. Also, ask your hotel if they have a area shuttle service. They may not offer airport transportation but have transportation service within 5 miles of the hotel.

There's got to be a local mini mart or something that you should be able to get cheese, fruit, yogurt, V8, or something that you can eat that shouldn't be off limits... no? I know, it's really tough being stuck, but I would suggest talking to the concierge about how to take a bus to a little store or something. Do not give up! Where there is will, there are ways!! :)

Those are great ideas. You'll find a way, then you can write a book about it because I'm sure you're not the only one with those challenges. :) BT is right, the concierge would know. It's part of their job.
