Consider cutting your sugar intake. After about 3 weeks of giving up sugar I had much more energy. I used to feel tired and confused around 3pm everyday, but now I have a lot of energy after giving up sugar (and gluten). I found giving up sugar to be very hard until I gave up gluten (basically anything with wheat or barley in it). Once I gave both of these up at the same time I didn't really crave either of them as much and it made it So much easier to give up the sugar! I replaced sugar with agave nectar and stevia, and the gluten items with alternative (just google gluten free sugar free and you will find tons of sites with recipes for dinners, cakes or what ever. Also Google "Sugar Blues" and I am sure you will find a lot of sites that explain why sugar drains you of energy. Gluten on the other hand doesn't all of the population negatively, so you may want to experiment to see if you have a food allergy to gluten. If you crave it a lot that is a pretty clear indicator that you have some form of addiction/allergy to the food, if not, it is probably not an issue for you. One way to determine if you have food allergies is to go on an elimination diet (basically chicken, fish, olive oil, canola oil, any type of vegetables (potato is NOT a vegetable), sweet potatoes or yams, nuts and limited amounts of fruit (not fruit juice). After about 3 to 4 weeks on this diet introduce beans (one type at a time) into your diet. Every two days or so add another single item to your diet and monitor your reaction. Notice your mood, energy levels, if you get head aches, stomach upset or any uncomfortable symptoms. If you do consider removing those items from you diet long term (or only using them as rare treats). If the above approach seems too hard, you could keep a food-mood journal where you write down what you eat, when, and your mood/energy level 2 hours later. You will start to notice how certain foods may drain your energy. Ok, one last thing. If none of this seems to be working check in with a doctor that also is familiar with nutrition (such as pioneer comprehensive medical). It may be that you have an underlying issue such as low thyroid levels etc... Fortunately often times fatigue can be battled with food and exercise. Good luck on your journey, and congratulations on loosing the 60 lbs! I think it is really amazing that you have done so much for yourself thus far. Best, Bani
