Day 3
Happy Friday!! Today will be a good day, despite the fact that I was a half hour late for work today. In that half hour, I managed to get all my morning things done and make my husband a happy man (not the way you may be thinking - lol). But being late kept me from having time to think about grabbing breakfast through the drive thru. Actually, I think I should rule out drive thrus all together. I can't think of anything healthy that's ever come out of a drive thru, can you?

That settles it. No more drive thrus. If I have the urge to grab a burger and can't shake it, then the least I can do is burn some calories by getting out of my car and walking to the counter, right? In fact, that can be a rule of the diet: No drive thrus. Not even for salad. Especially not for anything else. Good. Moving on.

I didn't have time to weigh myself this morning becuase I was running late for work. Other than that, things were pretty much uneventful. I think, though I have not made wonderful food choices by eating nothing but letuce all the time, I have made pretty good choices and do not feel like I am depriving myself of anything. I do need to get on the treadmill though. I just have to find the time. I know that's a problem for everybody. When you work full time, have a family and go to school at night like I do, it is really hard to find the time. Almost always, by the time I have cleared 20 mintues to workout, I am too tired to walk more than to the foot of my bed.

I am hoping it will be different today. I have homework to catch up on, which I am lucky enough to be able to do at work if needed, and after that, nothing. Sweet nothing planned. So, if I work hard today, get my homework done, spend 20 mintues at least on the treadmill and eat healthy, then I will reward myself with, not junk food, but junk TV. Maybe some DVRed Grey's Anatomy or ER. I can't wait.

The coming weekend should be pretty easy to handle. I have class Saturday morning, a going away party to attend, yard work to do, homework to catch up on and then a movie to go see on Sunday. That may be tough, though. The devilish buttery popcorn and pretzels with creamy cheese is so hard to resist. I don't know what I am going to do. Maybe eat before I go. I don't know. Pointers would be nice here. I am in uncharted territory. I have never had to turn away movie theater food before and I am dreading it, but I promised my husband I will go with him to see a Into The Wild and I refuse to cancel on account of a popcorn addiction. Wish me luck!

Food Entry: I have eaten pineapple for breakfast, a Special K 90 calorie bar, water and I am not sure yet what for lunch. Maybe a turkey sandwich on wheat bread and a salad. We'll see. I plan on having grilled chicken, green beans and a salad for dinner.

Exercise Entry: 20 mintues on the treadmill today, mostly walking with a few mintues of jogging thrown in. I will try to do the usual 100 crunches on the ab machine too. No TV until I do.

Next Entry - News on how I survived the weekend. Will I cave in the theatre or wave bye-bye to buttered popcorn and pretzels with cheese? Pray for me!

Just to help you formulate.. www.glycemicindex.com Pick things with a glycemic index of 55 or less and you will be using low (or slow) glycemic foods. They don't turn to sugar as fast so don't spike your levels. Side effect- you don't crash and you lose weight.
