Sherillynn's Journal, 19 April 2013

I bit the bullet and posted my weight today. This past week has been very frustrating on a number of levels.

I haven't been able to get outside and exercise. Only the indoor stuff. Its April and we still don't have any spring weather in sight. I was hoping to log my miles outdoors and breathe some fresh air.

I have lost all but 1# of that weight I gained at Disney. Very frustrating to fight with the same 5# I lost last month. I was hoping to get another 5 pounds gone this month to stay on track. Now I'll have to work extra hard.

I've had to re-evaluate everything I eat too. I was getting a little bit lax. I am logging all of my food again- on another site. My carb count was creeping up. Sneaking a few cheats here and there but they all add up.

On a positive note, most folks who started their weight loss on 1/1 have given up by now but I am continuing the struggle. My clothes are fitting much better and I have less aches and pains in my back and in my knees. My blood pressure is better. I sleep more soundly at night. All of these benefits are a direct result of losing 17# this year. Sure, its not the 30-40 pound magic weight loss I had dreamed of, but it is a sensible amount of time that has kept me in check and on track.Maybe the more we struggle, the more we appreciate it. At least that's my theory.

I have continued to make low carb meals and have even branched out a little on some of my recipes. Most of the time, I don't miss the breads or pastas.

I have been toying with the idea of going back to a clean Induction for a couple of weeks. I need to really refocus and re-energise. My health and weight are osome of the most important focuses in my life and yet they are so elusive. Why do we know, without a doubt, what is good for us, and yet we cannot seem to get it together enough to discipline what we eat and how we exercise? Someone PLEASE answer this question for me.

I hate when you get to those points where you feel like you've been doing well, then all of a sudden those carbs creep in and all of a sudden your weight isn't dropping anymore. I would recommend going back to induction, but do the pre induction phase to really jumpstart your weight loss again. Try the atkins fast fast. If you don't know what that is... You eat 1000 calories per day, getting between 80-95% of your calories from fat. you eat the 1000 calories in 5 200 calorie meals, and this will put you back into deep ketosis, and make going into induction easier. I love the fat fast, I do a 1 day fat fast every few days, just to keep me in that state. It really helps and will completely curb your cravings.

You know, I've done the Fat Fast. It does jumpstart me and my stalls. Thanks for bringing that up. I had forgotten about it. That just might be the ticket I was looking for!
