Last night at work, one of the security guards that I work with came up to me and said-"Did you just lose a bunch of weight? You look great!"

He is the first one that has noticed that I lost 20#. I can't tell you what a great feeling that was. I was so inspired that I went in the closet this morning and took out my size 18 jeans. And guess what??? I got them buttoned and I can walk in them without feeling like my head might pop off.

Goodbye size 20. I will put those in the donation pile. I am not looking back and I am not saving them. If I have "fat pants" to fall back on I just might start slacking. Not gonna even go there.

The dogs and I just got back from our 3 mile walk. It was a bit warmer than I expected. I probably should have left an hour earlier. I enjoyed it but my pups are getting old and I really should have considered the heat a bit more. They did fine but they are exhausted now. I saw some finches on my walk and there are some trees in bloom with tiny white fragrant flowers that had an amazing scent. Not sure what they were but I was surprised they weren't loaded with bees.

As a matter of fact, I hardly saw any pollinators out at all. That is very concerning to me. I have hives less than a mile from where the trail is located and I would think they should have been foraging up a storm on a day like today. The lack of bees is more and more noticeable each spring. I wish the EPA would just get rid of the neonicotinoids. We'd all be a lot better off and so would the bees.

I am doing decently on sticking to the diet. Last night at work, I was really tempted to have some sweets but then I asked myself if I really had 200+ calories left in my calorie stockpile. The answer was no. I got a big glass of ice water to fill me up and got the hell away from the goodies. Thankfully, it got busy at that time so I had no time to worry about it. Saying no and moving on is a little victory each time I do it.

Tomorrow starts a 10 day stretch off from work. I'll be heading to Michigan on Saturday and working on my house there. Not thrilled about that but I get to see my 2 grown foster kids and their families so that will be a huge bonus.

I am thankful for the days off, the beautiful weather, and the chance to work outdoors for a bit.

Sure must have been some fattening air I was breathing last night. I weighed myself before I went to bed- which I don't normally do but I actually was FEELING lighter. I was at my base weight so I thought, yep, gonna be down at least a few pounds by morning when you consider water weight. Weighed myself this morning and I am 2# heavier than I was when I went to bed. WHAT THE HE<
So today I'll be out and about checking bee hives and then my walk before work. Rumor has it that we are having mid 80s for weather today. What that really means is we went from winter to summer and skipped spring completely!

I have several low carb meals planned for this week. Preplanning is really key for me. Otherwise, I tend to make some really dumb choices. The less thinking I have to do, the better!

I really like having veggies all chopped like a slaw. If I have a huge bowl of those to graze on and I add a little vinegar or ranch dressing, I find that the crunch is really satisfying.

Today I am really thankful for the Farmers Market that has resumed from its winter break. I'm in love with the warm weather and I'm thankful for the chance to get my fingers dirty planting flowers.

Life is good.

I sure haven't been fired up the last few days. So may hours of work and all I wanted to do today was sleep.

The cleaning lady was her for 4 hours and usually she gets my motivated to something but I was just zapped of all energy. I have to work tomorrow so hopefully a good night's sleep tonight will get me back to baseline with my energy.

The good news about being so tired though is that I really don't even think about eating.

I'll need to get back to my walking tomorrow. Rumor has it that the weather will be in the mid 80s tomorrow so that will be a bonus. My husband has been busy with planting and calving so I haven't seent much of him either.

Time to re-energise and re-focus. That will be tomorrow's mission. Signing off for tonight.

I'm really glad for a nice soft bed, pillows and my quilt.

Sweet dreams.

I had a really nice day yesterday. I worked inside most of the day due to the rain. It was very relaxed and restful.

I also went to a beekeeper's meeting in Rochester. The speaker there talked about alternative pollinators- Bumble Bees, mason bees, leaf cutters, diggers, carpenter bees, sweat bees, etc.

I've always focused my attention on the honeybees and their needs, probabbly because I always have so many hives and its what I am comforable with. It was kind of an eye opener to hear of the synergy that occurs between species. Pollination is more optimal when these species work together.

I know of the struggles that the honeybees have encountered but many of these native solitary species are in danger too. I've decided that I am going to try and establish a few nests for some Mason Bees. I've got some empty coffee canisters that I hated to throw away. I ordered some bamboo sticks and I think I'll try to attract them with a little bee house that way and see what happens.

None of this has anything to do with diet and weight loss but I am so fascinated with bees that I just had to digress. I learned so much from the talk that I just had to share some fo it while it was fresh in my mind.

I am thankful for those folks who work on these environmental issues with the bees.
I'm thankful for folks who are rebuilding bee habitats.
I'm thankful for people that don't use pesticides or who use them very judiciously and try to take a natural approach.
I am thankful for the Xerces Society and the work that they do. Take a look at their website if you have a minute. Bet you'll learn something there!

Blessings to all.

I am getting back in the exercise groove again today. I had several days in a row that I had to work and 12 hour shifts just don't lend themselves to having a life outside of the hospital.

Its gorgeous weather here today so as soon as I make lunch for my husband, I'll take a 3 mile walk and then its working in the flower beds for me! There really aren't any bugs out here yet so it'll be like a little bit of heaven.

Two nights ago at work, I went to eat the supper that I had packed. It was sugar free jello, veggie soup and 2 HB eggs. Imagine my surprise when I realised that someone had stolen it! We've had a thief in our fridge at work for the past several months. Very frustrating to think one of your co-workers is stealing from you. Not sure if I were the one stealing lunches that I would steal one that was low carb! I hope thier blood sugar dropped dangerously low after having my meal! lol

My weight loss has slowed but I am maintaining. It helped to evaluate what I was putting in my mouth. Really and truly, there were far too many cheats in there for my own good. I am hoping that the new program here will get me back into ketosis and burning off some more fat.

I do find that losing weight when the weather is warm is easier for me. I am outside more often and far less focused on kitchen matters!

Tooday, I am most thankful for the sunny warm weather. I'm thankful for the blooming flowers and for the little pollinators that are all out and about looking for a meal.
