Logging helps so much and it is so important to log everything. I avoid most bad day by planning one day ahead what my meals and snacks will be. It really helps keep me on track because I have healthy things planned instead of grabbing chips, candy bars, cookies and all that. It also really helps keep my appetite in check because of the healthy food choices.
