Today I went just over 1500 calories, trying to keep it under so I need to do better tomorrow, which is going to be hard since I am going out for lunch.

The fatsecret app for your phone can be a big help for that. It helps to look up what you "think" looks healthy... I learned that a meal that I was eating when I went out was 1000 calories, and it didn't seem like that much food to me.

Thanks, I'll download the app for sure. I did go on the restaurant's menu and checked it against fatsecret and found I could have a crab cake and coleslaw, so for today that's going to be my lunch (210 cals) .
