GlennM's Journal, 22 July 2010

I am very cranky from the Cortisone shots. I desperately want to move. Yet it may delay me getting published. I don't know what to do. The Cortisone shots worked a little - no back spasms anymore but the pain is still bad. I WILL get my handwritten work typed up in the coming months when/if I move, which seems likely whether it is autumn or spring when air fares are cheaper. In winter to Hawaii they're quite high. I would be off of here for months to relocate when I do to get a new computer in time, etc. The MAIN thing about Hawaii when I lived there I had a social life and there is a nightlife there, etc. The town I live in is dead at night and for meeting any women, etc. and even friends to do things with. I lived in Hawaii on Oahu before so I know how to get around. Today I am making a list of what I need to do to move. Anyway, I think my appetite has increased a bit from the shots. For me getting published isn't going to happen next month or the month after, so moving is a good idea if I'm in a better place mentally. It is a very difficult business to get into and at the least I can move somewhere where I want to be and that is not here. I will stay in a Veteran's Shelter inevitably I'm sure until I find a decent place to live. The bus system there is great though. I will not come back here to visit family. Tomorrow I will start posting things to sell on the Internet, today I will take an inventory of what I can sell... I am nauseous from the Cortisone shots so I will never have them again...

Doing better mentally as the day has passed by. I am having a tough time with the diet right now perhaps because of the Cortisone shots. I had Toto groomed today she looks so pretty and looks great compared to the matted mess she was before. I will keep her looking good now. I can't leave anywhere until the dog passes - and staying here may help me focus on getting published NOW or soon as moving will delay me a year or two easy as I would have to start from scratch. I will move ASAP if I get the money to do so through getting published if I can take the dog with me. My twin sister is having back issues too - I asked her today - she said "yes". She doesn't have arthritis like I do though. Her second daughter Shannon is having her sixth child later in the year, a boy. She has three boys and two girls now. Shannon and her husband just bought a big house and they're moving out of my sister's when the closing happens. Tonight a Veteran's group meets in my apartment building for the first time and we will be doing things together - there are over a dozen of us here. I am finding poetry quite easy to write, I wrote another poem yesterday. I have to start putting my short stories on the computer next week so I can maybe send them out to try to publish them in magazines. I know the Cortisone shots affected my mood this week and I am never having them again. I will get the nerve-blocking shots next as needed...

Good to hear that the cortisone is a one shot deal. I hope that it helps you to feel better soon. I'm sorry to see how much trouble the leg issue is giving you.

The leg isn't bothering me now, it is my lower back. The tendon healed up OK as it has been over a month now since it strained or pulled or whatever...
