I am with you Katsolo. I only recently told my husband of 27 years what I am trying to do...and then it was only because he wanted to go out to eat and I said I'd rather not. He wanted to know why not...so I told him what I had been doing. I've lost close to 34 pounds and he hadn't even noticed. Or so I thought...he said, "Oh, I thought you were getting a little smaller..." Big whoopee...full of compliments, he is not! So, I'm keeping my mouth shut and my plan to myself, except in this fatsecret group. Maybe after I have lost 100 pounds and you can actually tell that I did something, I'll feel more like going public with my efforts/successes. For now, I'm just sticking to my plan and counting on you all for my encouragement and support.

@draglist, you're one of my favorites as far as how to spread the overall message of hope without causing others to feel bad. I'm a tough cookie at this point of my life, (hmm, bad metaphor choice?) but others are more fragile. keep up the good work.

I share my experience with anyone who asks, I use the eye rolling as a measure of when to stop. seriously - between dropping weight and then getting sick - I have had to answer a few questions. I don't however argue or try to sell anyone on this or any other WOE.

@tahoebrun, I like that. at this point in life, I feel that diet (as opposed to diets/WOE) is personal and what worked when you were twenty may not work again at 40 (my high school consumption of Diet Coke and snickers for every swim meet/water polo match is a good example) but I'm also not spending hours in the pool or the kitchen. I like reading what different people here are doing and what's getting results. I notice that when I share IRL, especially with co-workers, that it turns into a weird extreme competition, so I just don't talk about it with them anymore. I primarily work from home, so when they do see me, it's usually a couple of months difference, so that may play into it.

Yep, don't advertise to friends and family. When they see me, it's always a nice surprise.

I live with kids and my daughter takes care of me so she knows everything and my best friend knows but otherwise it's just you guys.
