Grrr.....went to th Dr. today. Last time I went to see him was when I started dieting and I was 214lbs, I'm now 196 and I went to track my progress and go over my weight loss goals. Soooooo....I had set my goal weight to 120 lbs (I'm 5 ft tall and 116 is max weight for my height, or so the chart says) The Dr thinks that's too small for my frame and i'd look sickly...he thinks 140 would be a better weight, so now I'm stuck, I'd love to be 140 but when I was i thought i was fat!! so do I follow my personal goal or my Drs??

How about something in between? I would just see where you feel most comfortable. If you feel at 140 you would be happier a little smaller, lose a few more lbs and see how that feels.

I went through the same thing. I was 165 and I thought I was fat- because according to the chart, that's the maximum ideal weight for my height. Everyone around me was telling me I was too thin, but I didn't believe them. How could I be too thin at 165 pounds??? It sounds like so much! Now years later, I'm 193 and I feel GREAT! I look great and I still have a little weight to lose, but 180 is the right goal for me. Turns out I WAS underweight at 165, but I wasn't seeing it because of the numbers. I have 150 pounds of lean body mass, according to the body fat test I had done. The chart doesn't work for everyone. Here's what I would do: aim for 140 and when you get there, re-evaluate. Either go by how you look and feel, or if you need validation, have a hydrostatic test done to determine your body fat percentage. Just don't go blindly with the chart. It lies. :)
