I normally walk 4.5 miles in the morning, slow if I'm tired, brisk if I'm feeling energetic. Today, because of a cold rain I decided to run instead.
Now mind you, at 171 pounds I'm not sure it's safe for me to run much. The last time I tried to run, it was a couple of years ago, and I was at 188 pounds. I hurt my hip after a few aerobic running sessions (using a heart monitor) and have not run since.
But I really want to run, because walking 4.5 miles a day not only takes a lot of my time, it won't work for me consistently when the winter comes and the weather gets bad.
Walking 4.5 miles also makes my right foot hurt, because of my bone spurs. So I can't really walk faster or longer.
The loop around my house is about .8 miles. I probably ran half of that. The muscles around my knees feel tight. My hips feel okay. I should probably wait a day before doing any walking or running, then gradually get up to .8 miles before increasing distance or speed.
This afternoon I went shopping, because I didn't have anything warm to wear that fit. I bought a hoodie and a jacket. Both are size L!!!
