I was thinking and the problems I've had in the past with my weight has been wanting that instant gratification. Instead of counting calories and taking it slow I resorted to starving myself or going on crazy fad diets to get the results fast-and they never last long. And also with food instead of eating a salad or something healthy I would go for the chips, the cake, a coke whatever it was to get that good feeling for the moment.
I was sort of beating myself up for not losing the weight years ago and being so foolish for so long...but I guess you really have to be in the right place mentally for weightloss...I'm sure that is different for every person, but for me I had to come to terms with the only way I'm loosing is to do it the right way. And for once in my life I don't feel the need to jump on the scale 5 times a day.
236.0 lb Lost so far: 12.0 lb.    Still to go: 96.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I'm pissed at myself for not doing this years ago but we can't change whats happenned. Having the right mindset is key, like you I looked and looked for that quick easy fix and when I didn't find it I just hoped that the problem would go away. It took something serious to make me change what I was doing and take control of my weight.

Lily it sounds like you've done a lot of thinking and are in a good place. Don't beat yourself up about the past, but do think about the things you used to do and ask yourself how you're going to do things differently. And don't feel bad for trying fad diets - I was on the Atkins for a year and a half and I lost 70 pounds and I thought it was the magic cure. Then I got off of it and started eating normal carbs and gained all the weight back within a year. It's heartbreaking. We can't second guess ourselves. All you can really do is learn your lessons from yesterday and try to do the best you can today. Tomorrow is not promised to us.

I agree u have done alot of thinking and i think everyone has to come to a point where they say enough is enough and look at the big picture. I as well all say we wish we would have done this sooner but its better now then never and you can only move forward. You should be very prod of yourself. I know you can do it

I have learned from the past and while at times I still get disapointed in myself I know I won't make the same mistakes. kmartdollie I had lost about 50 lbs and gained it back it truely is heart breaking, but I think it also motivates me because I don't ever want to go through that again! :)
