My eating and exercise have not been as perfect as they were but I'm still working on trying to be as healthy as I can without spending three hours or so a day (!) on fatsecret. (that's just a guesstimate, but its close.) I am not going to have that time when school starts in a few days so I have to be more disciplined in less time. :)

This part is not at all diet related, but I'm writing it here because I don't want to talk to others about it who will worry more about it! I am up at this ungodly hour because I can't sleep- there was what appears to be a murder or attempted murder in my building. Apparently the woman in apartment one went to the hospital soaked in blood and there was some other much less bloody man and I don't know if he was the murderer or rescuer or...? The crime scene unit was parked in front of our building from several hours before I got home at 5 to after I went to bed at 11. ironically there was a crime prevention night for families a block away and there were oblivious families everywhere just out of sight. Apparently my husband had heard previously and didn't want to tell me that there was a drug dealer in that apartment. I can't find a story on our local newspaper's site about it even though they have listed other lesser crimes from yesterday. I would like to know that the woman is going to live and that the perpetrator has been arrested and will be locked away for good. Unfortunately life is not always so easy and I don't know when/if I will hear either of those things. And I thought this was a "good" neighborhood.

Unfortunately neighbourhoods good or bad have some degree of criminal activity. Alot of which goes on behind closed doors and goes undetected until something like you have experienced happens. I too hope that the lady is okay and the individual who did this is caught and punished appropriately. Try and have a good day. p.s thank for adding me to your buddy list.

Thanks, Pam! It turns out that the incident in my building was a suicide attempt, and the good news is the woman is still alive in the hospital and may well make it. On the same night, though, there was a murder a couple blocks over, and we also learned of a grotesque crime that happened in our neighborhood just before we moved there. I grew up in sheltered on an island, so I guess I've never gotten used to these things happening- but then again who does? Your comments do make me feel better because its reassuring to know that our neighborhood is not unlike other neighborhoods and therefore, I am about as safe as I can be at the moment. Thanks for your comments and for accepting my request!
