How is it possible that this food database shows Swerve as having 5g NET carbs per serving? Totally throwing off my attempt to come back to tracking in FS. Tried editing it but there's no way to add sugar alcohols. And adding 'Other carbs' still seems to count it towards total carbs.

You can add a new entry that's correct and use that one. I've done that a couple times. ☺

One way around that is to create a new entry for Swerve and add in equal parts fiber - that way it deducts those carbs from your net total. Not a good idea if you are counting your fiber, but otherwise it works well!

Unless you have to count them as net carbs like for medical reasons. Sugar alcohols etc. are usually only 1-3calories, I just count them as the total carb intake since it’s a minuscule difference

I eat a few items that have the sugar alcohols in them and it is super frustrating that the site doesn't account for them. I just make a mental note in my totals for the meal that had the sugar alcohols. it is routinely about 4-5g difference so it isn't too bad, just a pain. I did send an email to the admins for the page - it my turn up in a "update" to the site.

I went and looked it up online for a package and all the package says for carbs is 5 and it is all ethanol, I did not see two different listings like I normally do with those type of things. it was the granular package. I guess you got something somewhere that says more detail

@baskington I believe you mean Erythritol? Ethanol is the alcohol we consume to get drunk, not to sweeten things. Erythritol is a sugar alcohol and it doesn't count towards net carbs. The other app I'm using accounts for sugar alcohols and lists Swerve as 0g net carbs as it should.

yes, sorry about that. but yes that is what I meant. but the package does not show anything but the 5 carbs. no fiber listed at all. you may find that they do effect your blood sugar level. but I do agree that my atkins bars when I ate them had carb listing, fiver listing and net carb listing unlike this swerve product on its package.

FS counts all carbs, can't get it to understand net carbs. I suggest you create your own entry with the food values adjusted to your pteference.

you can add the net carb column on the computer version - the app doesn't have it.

You can add custom food to your cookbook or food options. There's some Korean ingredients I've had to enter in since FS didn't have them listed.

Choosing the "Net carbs" option doesn't affect the other calculations like macros.
