Another scorcher today. Up at 3:45. Decided to run on the treadmill this morning. 3.0 miles @ 1% incline. Sometimes I just don't get up early enough to do more than 3.0 miles. Like Ryan said, I'm not really built for speed - more like a mule, good for the long haul. Took my little Ipod Shuffle down and plugged it in; made the run go pretty quick. Kept my pulse under 150, and even though I was sweatin like a cat in a Korean deli, I felt pretty refreshed afterwards. I'm not sure what's going on with the Nike+, guess I still have some calibrating to do. I ran negative splits, where each mile was about 15 seconds quicker, but the graph shows the opposite. However, the Nike website said that they don't recommend calibrating to a treadmill. The overall distance was pretty accurate, so maybe I'll just leave well enough alone.
Had two birthday parties this weekend, one on Saturday and one on Sunday: the one for a friend who just turned 50, and the other for my great grandson that just turned "1". Fish fry for the one, cake and ice cream for the other. Didn't keep track of the food; it would just make me feel guilty. I promise I'll do better - until the next time.
Vacation starts this Saturday. I don't know what we are going to do yet. We can't stray far from home because of DW's treatments; her chemo treatments end about 2 weeks after vacation is over. They are only on Mondays, but once they are finished, then the radiation starts, and that is 5 times a week for 5 weeks, so we are really confined to the local area then.
I think I'm going to put the trike on the small trailer, and we'll go somewhere for a day or two at a time. When we find a nice shady scenic ride, we'll unload the trike and go for a ride. That way, if she gets tired, we'll just load back up and get back in the truck.
Well, been tied up at work, trying to knock out all the interim performance evaluations before I go on vacation. Talk at you later!
