llcoolsey's Journal, 10 February 2008

so, this calorie counting is very revealing! It looks like I'm hanging out at around 1500 calories a day. Good for maintenance, but I ain't gonna lose weight with that number! And, it's so great to look at the whole day and just see where i can "self-correct" (from IOWL on iTunes podcast).

So, my goal is to keep refining my eating habits little by little so it just feels natural and not like deprivation. I don't ever want to find these pounds again after I lose them!!!

I thought 2000 calories was the "mainting" count. In order to lose weight, you should eat 1200 cals a day without exercise and 1500 with exercise because your exercise burns the 300 cals. If you look at your exercise calendar, you can see that you burn over 2000 cals a day anyway not doing anything so as long as your intake is less than your daily burn you will lose weight! If you eat too little cals, your body will go into starvation mode and your metabolism will drop and you wont lose weight as quick as if you ate. I actually found that true a couple months ago when I ate really good for a couple weeks and ran a lot, but didn't lose any weight. The next week, I ate what I wanted and ran the same, and lost a couple pounds!!! Weird hey...

hmmmm interesting. I'm going to start weight training and keep my calorie count at 1200. We'll see how that goes.
