NanaKP's Journal, 17 September 2017

What a frenzied week, month, and more. Ern is finally in a stable frame of mind with improving body. Each day seems to have a marked improvement. Yesterday he was finally moved to a "SNF" (skilled nursing facility). I got home in time to grab dinner, change my CGM sensor, read a bit about his SNIF and go to bed in MY VERY OWN bed. I haven't been in a bed since last month. For a window seat with a cushion, the sleeping at the hospital wasn't as bad as it could have been, but I was surely glad to be home. It will be nice when Ernie is finally ready to return home. Eating has been a challenge, and an expense. Hospital cafeteria food isn't supposed to be as bad as hospital patient food. This was. I usually had a scoop of eggs, bacon and sausage for breakfast. A good carb breakfast eaten in Ern's hospital room - usually tepid if not actually cold. One day I had scrambled egg whites with hugh mushrooms and spinach and it was very good, even cold. Lunches were a trial and weren't where I wanted to waste my carbs, but I made it work. Dinners were hit and miss as I had to get home to feed the furkids, change their, puppy peepee papers, and get back to the hospital. I guess I did okay as I lost weight. Not bunches, but any go-down is better than flat line, or heaven forbid, gain. The one thing the hospital had were fabulous looking donuts. I've decided when I get my A1C down to 7.0, I'm going to splurge on a donut or pastry. I don't believe in rewarding weight loss with food, but this is more or the carrot. An incentive shall we say. I should be having by lab work soon since I have my 3 math appointment with my endocrinologist on October 5. I have also promised myself that if it isn't where I want it, I will not chastise myself because I know I have honestly done my best . I also know if I quit trying it will never happen. Now time for me to go have breakfast, then off to the sniff. Have a great day all.

I'm in competition with Job. Lily , the new great granddaughter was taken to Rady Children's Hospital with a 101°F fever. The did a lumbar puncture , determined she does not have menenjitis, but has an infection, so she is on IV antibiotics . Ern seems to be doing better. Doing hemo dialysis 3 per week. I actually had time to unpack half the car today. Gee, soon we may be all moved in. My weight fluctuates one or two lbs weekly, but basically is doing well.
