NanaKP's Journal, 09 July 2017

I hope I'm remembering correctly what the scale said this morning. I've lost a pound? OMG! Can this be right? Okay, my carbs and calories have been on track, but I'm usually on track and this doesn't happen. I have had many stressful, exciting things happening in the last few weeks. We have found a two bedroom apartment in an independent living community, that we both like and can get a great discount if we accept it by the end of July. To buy in, take advantage of the discount and pay for a rent lock that lasts for the entire length of our stay, we will need to sell our home. So besides running all over looking for senior living places we are talking to people about buying our home as is. Stressful situation, but I finally dropped it in my husband's lap and the fact that he is helping is taking much of the pressure off me. We also seeing a counselor and I like her. This is surprising because I am super critical when it comes to counselors. My career was spent with counselors and counselor interns. I ran a crisis intervention hot line and taught active listening and everything that is needed on a hot line. Haven't found many counselors that I like/trust. Oh, I forgot, my most exciting news on the personal front. I heard on Friday that my Dexcom G5 has shipped. If you are a Dexcom G5 user (follow me) I would love to talk to you. Quiz you, interogate you, lol. I'm a little scared and alot excited. For those who don't know, the Dexcom is a CGM (continuous glucose meter). A device placed subcutaneous on the abdomen. It reads your blood glucose constantly. It comes with a receiver so that you can see your bg every 5 minutes. It will also send an alert if my sugar is too high or going into a hypo glycemic range. No more pricking my fingers 4 and 5 times a day. No more fear of going hypo. So yes, my life is really moving and changing right now. As usual, prayers are always welcome. Thanks all. Kathryn

Wow. That's going to make your life a lot easier. My husband does finger sticks 3-5 times a day and is either diligent or forgetting unless he's had a reaction. I can definitely see this as a real convenience. You have a lot going on but you seem to have a good handle on things. Good luck .
