I was on vacation for 8 days and did my best to keep to the Keto WOE. Argued with everyone constantly that it was NOT on a diet. That I was NOT allowed a cheat day. Seriously, do you think my diabetes knows I've been good and will allow me to eat something I shouldn't without kicking my sugars up? There is no cheat days for me. The things I eat, the exercise I do all impacts my sugars. My diligence paid off, my sugars stayed on point and I lost 7 lbs! Yippie me!! It was a great celebration and I enjoyed seeing my brother and his family, but as I said before my brother doesn't take his diabetes seriously. Our father didn't either and we lost him very young, he was 62 when he died. While I opted for salad, burger and a few berries for dessert he had a burger on bun with a huge glop of ketchup and a giant cupcake with a big pile of butter cream frosting. Both of us are diabetic, I'm now taking 10 units of insulin a day and if I keep going the way I am, the doctor says I can STOP taking my insulin!!! He eats like that and not only takes shots, but pills for his diabetes too. I can't tell him what to do, I've tried to explain things, but he says it's too much work. It makes me so sad, how can having a healthy future be too much work. Everyday I bless the people that created this site and all the information people put out there for a Keto WOE. Today, thanks to them, my future looks good. :-)

Stay calm and Keto on! I love the part where you ask 'think my diabetes' knows that I have been good and will allow a cheat day? Awesome.

Mae, you know what you need to do to stay and grow healthier. Eventually, others will get it. And if they don't - well you still know what you have to do!

So proud of you for not giving in...I, too, am diabetic and you are so right..there are no cheat days! I, too, have a sibling who is in bad shape with diabetes. She shoots up and eats, takes reading, shoots up more and wonders why she gets shots in her eyes???? Like you I am very strict with my LCHF WOE. You are to be congratulated on losing 7 pounds and keeping numbers down while on vacation! That's what this is all about....

What a fantastic result! It's such a shame people don't accept it's how you eat. Would they suggest you have a piece of beef if you'd told them you were vegetarian? Actually, I suspect I know the answer to that ... You're doing the right thing for your body - take care!
