Panigale1199's Journal, 18 March 2016

Hi I extended my whole 30 until today
Tomorrow is my cheat day.

My mom pressured me into weighing myself. She said its good to know how far I came and it could push me to not cheat as much tomorrow.

I did not want to know my weight because I was afraid of disappointment
I am happy/sad, its bitter sweet. I lost the excess weight I put on quickly from all the traveling from work.

Now I am back where I was all year. 152 ish. I just cannot seam to get back down in the 140s =( I wonder what I am doing wrong? I really don't get it. It is heartbreaking to realize I have no idea how to get my BF lower. I am sick of trial and error honestly Just wish I had an idea of what to do. Maybe I give this program another try?

Cut out the bacon?

I already cut sugar and diary and grains. what now? I only eat 2 small pieces of fruit a day.

Honestly I dont even think I have been eating enough. Everyday around lunch I get headaches. I think I need to eat more? Urgh! So annoying =(
152.4 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 12.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 2.1 lb a week

-10 pounds and your happy/sad? BE EXCITED!!! That's a wonderful loss for your 30 day challenge... The weight didn't get there in 30 days, so why would you expect it to be "all gone" in 30 days... You can do it... With the success you just had, I personally wouldn't change anything... the headaches MIGHT be dehydration... drink more water, and be thankful for your loss.

Hi I noticed you are on the Paleo Diet. When you look back at your food journal do you see deviations from the diet? Is it possible for you to follow it to a T for 2 weeks and no deviations? I am just throwing this out there as a possibility.

You are doing great and always remember that muscle weights more than fat, if your measurements are down I would not worry about it at all, you are doing amazing, keep up the great work and hold your head up high.

I think your results are fantastic. Naturally we always want a little more than we get, especially when you've worked so hard and given up so much. Remember that you lost ten pounds in your first whole thirty, who is to say that another thirty couldn't get you another five, landing you in the 140's. Instead of changing maybe you just need to give it more time. At a lower weight with increased activity your body is definitely working against you, but you can get there. Try to enjoy your cheat day.

You did wonderfully - I know you have wanted in the 140's...stick with the bodyfat caliper, losing fat is slow and building muscle is better for you. The Idiot Box is just a number, muscle is action and health and fitness! Use a tape measure, too,

Great job, congrats on that weight loss.

Don't be discouraged. I'll take that from you because this is my day to have a pity party. But I'm getting back on this wagon right now. I have cut out cigarettes, beer, wine, most soft drinks (I might have 3 a month). I've been walking and walking and walking for months (almost like Forest Gump) and only lost 3 pounds. The nurse told me the same thing as HCB said. Keep that mantra, "The scale is not my friend."

Don't worry Panigale1199. Just be patient. Without a doubt during this process you will hit stubborn plateaus which seem insurmountable. I was "stuck" and couldn't break the 200 lb barrier despite of maintaining my diet plans and exercise. Quite frankly, it really pissed me off. But now I currently sit at 196 lb which is a huge accomplishment for me. I always say stay the course and be honest with yourself. Trust me, the weight will come off. Also, as a side note...you're mom is absolutely right! I avoided the scale for many months in fear of what I was going to see. But by doing so I was only deceiving myself. The nice thing about a scale is that it doesn't know you. It's unbiased and will always give you the truth -- both good and bad. Use the bad as motivation, and use the good as a sense of accomplishment. It will get you to your goals. Good luck!!

1. Please don't say "muscle weighs more than fat..it's just nonsense". 2. No matter what the diet, you're simply eating too many calories. You're not losing weight as you are not creating a sufficient calorie deficit. Your daily average when logging everything looks to be around 1200 - 1500 calories. For the 130lbs you want to be @say 20% Body Fat, that leaves you with 104lbs of Lean Body Mass. At 9 - 11 calories per pound of LBM, you should be eating 936 - 1144 calories to maintain that. (Eat for the body you want...not for the body you have).

Hey Panigale, it's Ok to feel a little disappointed if you're expectations aren't met, especially if you feel you've been doing absolutely everything you can to drop your body fat%. However, I think that 9 pounds in a month is very good...especially if it was all fat. This is a process, day by day, week by week, month by month and every month in the right direction is a win!!

Thanks all. But he is right muscle doesn't weigh more than fat, HOWEVER fat is more space dense. So I could of lost more fat and kept muscle. Muscle takes up less space than fat does. For the calorie intake. I am not sure I am even eating enough sometimes. I find myself hungry during lunch and thinking I am eating enough, then I find I am hungry soon after lunch and I get headaches. I find being on a strict paleo diet- it is hard to eat a lot of calories. But today I am starting my next whole 30 and I want to see how this one goes.

Also I don't record my food intake on here anymore so you can't go by my food log. I write what I eat down in a journal

Don't you miss the calculations FS does for you when u log here?
21 Mar 16 by member: Mistybenner
@mistybenner No I do not miss it at all. I find I actually drop weight when I am not obsessing over food and how many calories an apple is or a chicken thigh is. I keep a journal of my food intake but I dont go insane measuring and counting @suzytrws thank you! I always take everyones advise and to apply it to my goals. Everyone's knowledge is valued and helpful to me

Sometimes you just plateau. Is your exercise routine varied or is it the same thing every day? That can also hurt you. Sometimes I need to have a couple of low calorie days to shock my system back into losing.

@emilydotson My routine is pretty different every week. I train with a trainer 2 times a week and he keeps it different every time. The only thing I do consistently is a spinning class and a yoga class every week. The yoga class is a different routine every week too. I could deff add a new routine in. But I think I need to see if another whole30 does the trick. Maybe I am impatient
