JUMPSTART 2016 YAY! I mustered up the courage to jump on the scale this morning. It has been about 10 days since my last weigh in where I had a small gain (or maybe I caught my weight then that a high of some window of fluctuation). Whatever the reason that I increased, I surmized that my super strict adherence may have put me in a metabolic arrest. I was so disciplined all through the holidays and so I did fret with that registered 1.2 increase. You see it was a run of almost two weeks and that reading emerged. I my weightloss attempts in the past were whispering taunts in my head. "You are too thin and your body is telling you to stop" ...
What was true was that I not eating enough to support all the activity I was doing. However, even though I knew that the cure was to do a jumpstart. Back off exercising and to eat more, those whispers again taunted, "here you go - getting back to your old eating habits and there will be a creep of weight".
Lying taunts. What was true was that my husband returned after being away for a couple of months. He was also on this regimen and met his goal weeks ago, but in my absence, he lost even more weight. I was thrilled to be able to cook for him and for us and to have a return to a comforting dining ritual. So since his return, we are eating more varied foods - lots of protein (meat, fish) and veggies. As I've said before, we eat pretty healthily and this regimen was a weight correction needed after several years of weight creep. I am still feeding my husband larger portions and he is snacking sensibly on nuts and fruits.
All this to say that I have been intaking more calories, in fact, on New Year's Eve, I ate more than my maintaining RDI. Living in the shadow of that last weight reading, I did worry, but after this morining, I am thrilled to realize the increase of calorie intake is working to my advantage and I will focus on keeping that metabolism burning... Down 5 pounds this morning.
