After another two weeks of regular vigilant regimen I find my scale telling me that I am up 1.2 pounds UP!🤔. I honestly was a bit surprised but I knew I had been very regular so that surprise turned into curiosity and pondering. This entire regimen of weight loss has been such a journey of listening to my body and trying to make adjustments . Three things are on my mind about this. Though baffling. This weight gain reading may be the result of eating too strictly. I have gone to bed several nights with my stomachs growling. Could I be in a suppressed metabolism state from undereating? With that the fact that I have been exercising a lot and also doing yoga could be a play into this. Could it even be possible that I am building muscle?
I regret that I did not take measurements of my waistline and other areas before I started, because this would be useful to me now. I can now wear a size 8 down from size 16's.
The third thought is that the yoga is playing more of a part than just a means of calorie burning. There is a wholeness of toning and another question is if I am approaching or have reached a weight that is healthy. I am a 54 year old active woman (5'7")? I feel great.
My husband has now returned home for Christmas and part of my psyche was that now that he is here, I can eat with him and so that means that my meals of yoghurt and granola or poached eggs for dinner will change.
And it IS Christmas. I have been eating the gingerbread cookies that I made and hosting friends for meals and keeping pretty well to the regimen. In no way overeating my RDI.
Last night, we met friends for pizza. Pizza? the first pizza since September really. Sausage and mushroom (my husbands favorite). I ate three regular slices and had a margarita. Our friends gifted us some home-made peanut brittle and we broke into that on the way home in the car. Hey, if you can't eat home-made peanut brittle on Christmas! What is all this healthy regimen for, but to increase our quality of life by good health, well-being, good-friends, remembering all we have to be thankful for, honoring God and enjoying and sharing food. This is it for me. Nothing better than sharing a meal with family and friends. It's absolutely eucharistic! I would defend that all kinds of foods are blessed to our bodies at the holidays when taken with friends and love.
Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year of new beginnings.
