Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 21 February 2017

Well.. I'm older. I've decided that birthdays really do.. kinda.. suck. Unless you're 5 or 6 and your birthday party is at the trampoline place.. then you're birthday is probably amazing until that one kid pukes. I think it all goes down hill at either 25 or 30 but I can't remember which because the old age thing is kicking in.

I've decided that this year should be different than last year. I should make a bucket list of things I want to get done this year. And then.. I should make a new list every year after that because well.. I want to do stuff and do things I've never done and maybe get some of these completely normal things that I want to do get done so I can go absolutely nutty/crazy in about 10 years and enjoy every straight jacket moment. Yup.. this is my plan.

Birthday Goals:
1. Participate in a 5K.. wait.. that could mean I would just be one of the volunteers handing out water. Take part in a 5 K.. Hmm.. I could walk it. Run.. Run in a 5K. I might as well go for the gold while I can.

2. See something amazing. Like say the Niagara Falls. It's right there. In the handy wave direction.. Ok I probably just waved to the Walmart but you know. I could go in a day and see it. I would have said the Grand Canyon but that's just too far.. Maybe another year. One amazing thing at a time.

3. Write something that gets published. It may be a tiny book of bathroom humor that's only available on Amazon.. for free. It's going to happen though.

4. Have an "I got sexy" moment. Do that thing that women usually do on a daily basis but you stop doing when you have 3 kids, cows, and are wondering why all your pants don't have elastic.. seriously? Why is that not a thing? I remember maternity pants. They were AMAZING. All elastically goodness. Anyways.. I got sexy moment.. Hair, Makeup, new outfit, and a hey honey.. we've been married since moss evolved but wanna go on a date type of thing. A date that doesn't involve running errands, Walmart, or French fries....

Yup that's all I've got on my list so far. I'm a lil overachiever!! Stop snorting. This.. is over achieving. When years go by with flashes of manure, diapers, sippy cups, and OMG what is that?!!?!?! Yup.. this is livin on the edge!

Writing the "something that gets published" should be easy. When you make the plan to go to Niagara, try looking it up on one of the numerous Trip or Restaurant websites. I'm bugged daily for my restaurant or trip reviews. This is only one but here's a link: https://click.e.tripadvisor.com/?qs=bfa7c7a9089c5e7f9b20352e876f5a63081c88faed1a9f9cc14cab625c13531b8b177e9d6d418dad3191a7dceebc2010fdb54d6d2764e6aeed2927ea6ad0a262 I'm fortunate in that I have a multitude of eating out opportunities and make sure to schedule new adventures regularly. True I don't have the daily responsibilities you do, but before you do get "old", I strongly encourage you to try and plan at least 3 or 4 adventures a year. They don't have to be journeys out here to AZ to see the Grand Canyon, but a day trip to the local museum or historic building with lunch or dinner some place you've never eaten or a different food that you've never tried counts in my book.

There's nothing wrong with having goals. Running that 5K will be a major achievement. Start now and you'll be running on no time. Maybe you could have a bull chase you. Bet you'll run fast then! LOL.

running.....running at your age????....(wait, I don't even know you so??)...start off slow. Perhaps running after the washer to stop it because it just went off kilter. Yes, it's a start! Start something, anything.....then, and only then, put it on the bucket list!

I think you should be publishing a weekly column or a blog. Your writing style an humor always makes me smile and laugh. I don't want to miss your posts!

You could run in your pasture and take the kids with you. That way when they don't keep up they can just follow the cows when they come in to eat. I have lived in the Grand Canyon State. Going to see the Grand Canyon is a lot like having sex. The drive there is foreplay, then you get there and it is awe inspiring, and beautiful, and you just have to take a deep stress relieving breathe! Then 15 min later your wondering what chores you can still get done before the day is done. Does having a blog count as being published?

Happy belated Birthday! I used the Couch25K app last year and can now run a 5K so I highly recommend it if you are a beginning runner (and hated running lol) like I was.

That is awesome that you put your goals on paper. This time next year you can either go check, check, check, check, or what was I thinking!?! By the way Niagara Falls is awesome! My husband and I went there for our honeymoon. You should think about publishing a compilation of your journal entries from here and call it 'Dieting Days of a Farmer's Wife' or something like that. You are always so honest and candid on here, it would be like chicken soup for us that are trying to loose weight. Picnics are great for dates, especially if you and hubby have a favorite spot somewhere. It is probably still a little cold now, but it will be spring soon. Happy belated birthday!
