Good afternoon! My birthday weekend has arrived. Tomorrow is the big 2-8 for me, but my husband and I are going out tonight for my birthday dinner, seeing as how tomorrow is Easter Sunday.
Last night my father in law took us out to a buffet for dinner. That particular place wouldn't be my top choice, but he is low on money and insisted on doing something nice for me. He even remembered my birthday without any reminding, how could I say no to that. Absolutely flattered. I did good at the buffet, mostly because fighting people for my dinner is not my idea of a good time. I got up twice. Once for my salad and again for my dinner. No dessert, no extras. I had a sirloin steak, (I'd be lucky if it was a whole three ounces worth) small portion of baked sweet potato, and some steamed cabbage... and once dinner roll. It was probably the best part of the meal. Good healthy choices all the way around, and I was hungry went I went to bed last night so I'm certain I didn't over eat.
My husband counldn't wait a day longer, he gave me my birthday gift today. It's a fitbit!! I'm excited to have it. I'm interested to see what it says my daily calorie burn is as compared to where I've been estimating it. I'm a numbers kind of girl, so this will be a good motivating tool for me as I finally get to goal this year.
I started off my morning with a special birthday weekend breakfast. I made blueberry waffles and bacon. I substituted the oil in the waffle mix for unsweetened applesauce, and added cinnamon and blueberries. They were delish, with less than three hundred calories for two. One fourth cup of syrup (four tablespoons) has 140 calories in it, so I only planned on used two tablespoons. I was shocked that one tablespoon of warmed syrup was enough to do the trick. So two waffles with bacon and coffee, under six hundred calories. Of course super high in carbs, but once in a while isn't going to hurt anything. Feeling very proud of myself for making such good decisions, and sticking to my WOE this past week when my motivation was waning.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!!
