Octobers Focus: To *be* who *I* want to be by *doing* what *I* say *I* will do!

Well how excited am I! I knew focusing on the efforts the results would follow (thus my ticker quote) but I really wasn't expecting the changes to be so impressive (to *me* anyway). Especially in my BMI & BF%. It seems they hardly ever budged before. Can that BF% loss be right??? I SURE HOPE SO!!! I told Keeper I *felt* smaller even if the tape #'s didn't shrink.
The BMI is 4pts from me being "over weight" & my weight is 2.6 lbs away from its target for this month so *I* will *do* what *I* say *I* will do & be vigilant these next 2 days as to HIT those targets by November 1st.
Because Octobers Focus proved to be beneficial to me I am continuing on with it into November.

Novembers Focus:To *be* who *I* want to be by *doing* what *I* say *I* will do!

Thanks Bill, sure would enjoy it if you would break down IIFYM for me :) & help me reach *one* of my goals for next month LOL:) BTW I some how enlarged my page to where I can only see 1/4 of what I want to see. Would you have any ideas as to how to shrink it back down to size so the full page can be viewed? Sometimes I truly amaze myself LOL

Thanks again Bill. :) I have been reading about IIFYM but still can't seem to understand what it's saying.I wasn't much good at science in school either. I did checkout the calculator & got my #'s for what I did manage to grasp or think I grasp, not really certain about that :) Hopefully NM will shed some light on it for me.

Your monthly goals and successes are really inspiring. Thanks for sharing the journey!. What is IIFYM?

IIFYM is an abbreviation for If It Fits Your Macros. Some people take it as an excuse to eat poptarts every day. More accurately it's "eat anything you want as long as it gets close to your desired intake of protein, carbs, and fat grams." Even at that, I think it's best to stay clear of the starchy carbs on a weight loss program. IIFYM is useful to me in the idea that, when I when I know I'm going to blow it and eat a food outside my diet (like a poptart - as if!), then I know it's not going to kill me. The IIFYM site is quite good for calculating what your calories should be and various other things. Mya, that drop in bf is unlikely if over a short period of time. Until a person is quite lean it's difficult to get a good reading of bf. Even at low levels the results tend to be less than accurate. What you DO know is that you lost 5 pounds, and that's perfect. 1 pound to 1.5 pound loss per week is pretty much max for healthy sustainable losses. Don't go nuts looking for that extra 1.5 pounds. Just keep on chooglin' and stay away from the Halloween candy. I've been stuck handing the stuff out tonight. :(

Oh, yeah. I decide to go 'outside' my diet about once every two weeks when I'm solid.

Sharon,Thank you! One of my goals even if I didn't mention it, is to be inspiring to others :) I like knowing that I can & have encouraged people to be motivated in mind &/or body to *do* something that will be life-changing for them in a positive way. I guess I *did* mention "Be the example" LOL I'm also hoping that with increased energy *my* brain will function better ;> As for what is IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macro's)? NM explained it obviously much clearer than I can. I'm still trying to understand a lot of the words I'm reading that surrounds it.Don't get me wrong I know the words & their meanings but for some reason I'm still unable to get a clear picture of how it works. I want to understand *why* I need to do what it tells me to do. Did I make that understandable to you & anyone else in this conversation? I hope so. Maybe what I *really* want & need to understand is the "diet" itself. But ....I got a book I'm going to read that I believe just may explain it in a way that's helpful to me. :) It refers to it as "Math" (which I'm not too shabby at) rather than "Science" (which I marvel at but don't really get).

Thanks Musician,Thats basically how I'm looking at the losses too.I figured since I didn't understand what I was doing or why I was doing it,my figures probably weren't correct. But still,as you said,I *do* know that I lost 5 lbs!!! As well as a few inches & my clothes fit much better & I feel great *doing* the things that it takes to get me the life *I* want! :) I do *tend* to "go nuts" when I think I've found a good thing altho' *I* prefer the word:over-board; or the phrase:dive in.....because I lean toward being a type A personality (which is a little aggressive) I am of an "all or nothing" mind set that I'm altering with this Journey. The word/phrase,IMO, is positive.....so perhaps I *should call it as you do & view it as,IMO, a negative! It would no doubt help change my mind set, huh?! Thanks for reeling me in Musician, you're a life-saver ;)
