Good morning everyone! It's cold here this morning. I actually turned my furnace on to warm up the house lol. I don't tolerate cold well, not for any physical reason... I'm just a baby about it.

I've got a consecutive week of good eating in, so I'm pretty comfortable in my groove there. My face looks slimmer and I'm glad for that. I don't know if it was all in my head or not but it was looking a little rounder to me for a while. (my husband claimed it wasn't, but he says what I want to hear... because he's smart like that lol) My pants are feeling huge when I walk around. They are a size 14, and I cant imagine myself fitting into anything smaller than that. Maybe one of these days I will get the cojones to try on some smaller sizes and see if they fit. Eventually I will have to if these suckers start falling down lol. All non scale victories that tell me I'm headed in the right direction.

I did make it to the gym yesterday for a 45 min full body workout on a really high tech elliptical. I was never panting out of breath, but it was not an easy workout and left me exhausted the rest of the day lol. Hard sweat sessions like that are just what I need to get that scale moving. I have to say goodbye to easy and hello to sweaty.

Since I have been keeping track of my sodium intake I have noticed an increased sensitivity to the taste of salt. Yesterday I had eggs with some cheese, no salt added, and they tasted just fine. I could even taste the salt that is already in the eggs, cheese, and toast. I have also learned that all canned foods are sodium bombs. I made chili last Friday, and all of the canned tomatoes and beans are LOADED with sodium. I even used 40oz of fresh tomatoes and 'lower sodium' beans to try and lower the salt content. I still ended up with over 1000mg of sodium in one cup of chili. Lesson learned. Next year I will have to start canning my own fresh tomatoes to finally have a low salt product. Until then I guess I opt for 'low sodium' canned foods when need be. (it will be far and few between though!)

Plans for today are pretty much the usual. Have a great day everyone!

Yolanda, try a smaller pair, it will make you feel good, I promise. Cook your own beans from dry, you can control the sodium. Tomatoes have quite a lot f natural sodium.

Good for you Yolanda, go to the thrift store and try some smaller ones or just buy a pair and take them home and try them you might only spend $5.00 on a pair of jeans there instead of $20.00 at a regular store. :)

Good job at the gym. Just remember you get stronger by alternating hard and easy days, to let your muscles heal. DW canned salsa yesterday, and boy is it good! She can't handle "hot" but she put an appreciable amount of jalapenos in it just for me, bless her heart. She even set aside two pints so I can add a habanero to see how I like it. I noticed that adding "hot" makes it easier to live without so much salt. No pain, no gain, right? LOL!

Try on the smaller pair! Remember when you fit into the medium shirt and didn't think that would happen?

I agree with everyone else here, try on a smaller size!!! Also, for the canned veggies you can rinse them before cooking...it won't remove all of the salt but will lessen it!

Ooh, great suggestion about rinsing the canned veggies. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks everyone, I will keep your encouragement in mind the next time I head to the mall :). Rinsing the veggies is a great idea, Patti, and I will certainly do that! Kind of stuck with the tomato sauce though lol. I'll grab a lower sodium label and hope for the best! DairyKing, I love love love spicy food. :) It also helps with portion control lol

OOoh ... I loved your post. You write amazingly. If i can add my 2 bits on sodium, please try this awesome trick: Watch for Polysorbate 80 in any food. It's in a lot of stuff, from pickles to Ice cream. I noticed for me, it goes hand-in-hand with salt. polysorbate 80 caused me to go into a full on food-craving meltdown, and I know it was the Polysorbate 80 as all else I ate was whole food. If you dare to peek, this is all about food additives. It's wild. http://peopleforethicalliving.com/health-and-fitness/food-choices-nutrition/dangerous-food-additives/ Haha i just realized this is your blog not mine. You have lost so much # I am in awe of you and I have to say I will be following you as I think you're awesome. (PS not a creeper) <3

Go get the new pants already. It will do wonders for your motivation. Proud of your consecutive week of eating well. I have a a consecutive day in. Now wait just a minute! Is that really 'consecutive'?

I suppose I should have written "seven consecutive days", NM, but it's early when I write these journals! lol Thank you abdicant for your kind (and much appreciated) comment!! I will looks into the polysorbate 80 :)

I try to go with the No Salt Added veggies because I just don't like salt. I canned my own green beans this year and it said to add salt, but I forgot and my hubby and son (my daughter hates veggies) don't even notice and I think they taste good. It does take time to can them, but it's so worth it! Great job on the workout and clean eating!! I wish you were here to kick my butt into gear. :)

Excellent job all the way around. Good information, Abdicant...never knew that!

Never knew about the polysorbate 80. I don't buy things though that I don't know what the ingredients are. No idea what that is...mmmm will watch though.

Unfortunately salt assists with preserving. That is why canned stuff has so much of it. Even my home canning has salt in it. But with my home stuff I know exactly what is in there. I agree...try on some pants woman! Can't have your britches falling off!

Depends on what I was canning, years go. Many times I would leave the salt out. I never put salt in tomatoes or green beans.

Good for you on the eating and looking slimmer! Nice when clothes are looser, good excuse to splurge on a little somthing just for yourself. I cook dried beans in the crockpot, bag it in individual servings and freeze the bags I won't use in a couple of days. I use garlic powder or Mrs. Dash salt free instead of salt in most of my cooking. I like freezing the veggies instead of canning because canning is hot and labor intensive. My mom used to do a lot of canning and so many jars would go bad.

Hi Yolanda, I am with you on the disbelief of sizes. I had a hard time making myself buy new bras just because I couldn't or didn't want to believe that I had lost that many inches and was so afraid that I'd get them and not be able to wear them. Thankfully it all worked out. I also have decided to refuse to buy myself anything new till I can buy myself something in the first price range set rather than the extra $5 just because I have a big behind. Glad you are back with the sweating like a slave group as misery loves company. I cannot really comment on the salt thing as I am not that up to date with that. I'm going to go do my diabetic checkup at the end of the month along with my monthly weight in so I'm looking forward to those results. Have a great day :)

I am so happy you feel well and are doing many healthy options for yourself!

I've read somewhere that rinsing the canned goods can sometimes decrease the sodium.. at least.. the beans.

A tip - if you rinse canned beans really well before adding them to a dish it's supposed to significantly reduce the sodium, by how much I don't know.
