Good Morning, FS Warriors! Got up at 4 to run. I didn't want to. Didn't want to get up, and didn't want to run. Did it anyway. Didn't want to go through the day wishing I had run, and feeling guilty because I didn't. Ran a slow and easy 3.5 miles. I was a little stiff starting out. At my age, I probably need more than one rest day following a long run, but the hell with that! Haha! I know to take it slow. I'm not going to get up those 12 and 13 mile runs by talking myself out of the shorter ones.
So, it was about 48 degrees this morning. Didn't need my beenie or gloves. Stars were out, but they weren't giving off enough light to leave my flashlight behind.
After showering and heading out the door, I was surprised that it was so foggy I could hardly see to pull out onto the highway. Funny how God clears everything for me to run and then drops the shades when it's time to drive. Haha, that's all right, I made it safely to work. I've got a bunch of meetings scheduled, but just wanted to jot something down so you didn't think I was backsliding here.
We had baked trout last night, that we got filleted and coated from the store with crumbled almonds, with skin still on the one side, (but almonds were coated on both sides). DW baked it and loved it, while I could take it or leave it. There's no way I could eat the skin cooked that way. I'm assuming that trout are meant to be pan fried, and I'll reserve my judgment on the taste until I try it that way. Now, I love salmon cooked that way (never had it with almonds) with the skin on one side, and of course you don't eat the skin. Twice baked potatoes and a huge salad topped off the dinner. I told DW that I couldn't keep eating this much for supper. She wanted to argue with me and told me it wasn't much. You can't win an argument, or discuss something like that without it becoming an argument, so I did what any red blooded male would do - I changed the subject.
Nursing Home Ministry tomorrow night, so I will probably just give the fingers a workout tonight. I don't have to worry about practicing my singing, I just do that for an hour each way to and from work. I have to be careful though when people pull up next to me; they don't know if I'm insulting them or not. Of course not. I'd make eye contact if I wanted to do that. LOL! Well, got to go. Toodles!

I always wonder if people can see me busting out a tune in my car...I don't care....sometimes you just need to sing!

My favorite fish is rainbow trout. I use a little salt and pepper and then lightly dust it with Drake's or even plain flour (shake off any excess) and then pan fry it in a little olive oil. I do it skin-side down and then turn it over when it looks opaque part way up the side. Just before it's done I turn it over once more, take it off the heat and squeeze a half of a fresh lemon over the top. When I take it out of the pan I use a spatula and slide it under the skin so I never even have the skin on my plate...Love it that way!!...I think I'll have that for dinner tonight...Thanks!

Good for you on the run! Your dinner sounds delicious though I haven't tried fish with almonds. Yep, you are a smart man by changing the subject! Hmmm... I thought everyone sang in the car! I always see heads bobbing to what I assume is music because I am doing the bobbing thing too LOL

Thanks for being my inspiration for this evening. I'll go home and get an exercise routine done. You are awesome!

Your funny, about the fingers... Good run,,, I cant run, it would ruin my body to run. It cripples you in the end. I learned my lesson two hip replacements now. Its hard on your joints, my friend, had two knee replacements now. Its much better to walk fast , then to run. People told me that when I was younger, I didn't listen. I am 64 years old now. Even with the hip replacements, I still am in pain.

Well, it's not for everyone. There are people running marathons in their 90's. I am 64 as well. I'm sorry you deal with pain. DW had both her knees replaced also, but she has never exercised a day in her life. Haha! She's 67 and starting to think about it. I figured it the jumping out of airplanes didn't do my knees in, what's a little jogging going to hurt. Well, I have my share of aches, but surprisingly I am in more pain when I don't exercise and keep moving. Now bungee jumping, I think that would be too hard on me. LOL!

You know, Hipaagrammy, I'm going to pass that technique on to DW. I think it sounds a lot more appealing than that other foo foo stuff. Seems to be more like the way they do it in the movies, getting up at the crack of dawn and catching their breakfast and frying it up in a skillet. Hoo Rah!

"You can't win an argument, or discuss something like that without it becoming an argument, so I did what any red blooded male would do - I changed the subject." OMG - THAT is priceless, DK. One of your best!

It just occurred to me I've never had trout. I guess that would be trout almondine or something? I've never liked any fish baked - just seems weird. Grilled, pan seared or fried. I think we should get a bus and go to HippaGrammy's for trout... sounds like she's got it down.
