Try keeping your carb intake below 100 grams.

Or below 25 grams net carbs. I had been having the same problem until I started atkins

Yep, pretty much the more you lower carbs the more weight you'll tend to lose. Quite a few low fat low cal people end going low carb and never turning back.

And if you eat low carb don't focus on eating low fat. Most food labeled low fat has added sugar which mean higher carb as well. Eating low fat labeled foods I think is a recipe for gaining weight. :-)

MDT can I ask what you eat to have only 25 grams of carbs in a whole day? Asking because, for example, yesterday my dinner was broccoli and it had 32. The day before my dinner was cauliflower and it had 21. And that was just dinner. I have no idea how people get 25 grams of carbohydrate in 3 meals and 3 snacks. Are we counting things the same way?

100 is manageable without starving yourself... I waiver between 95-110 and I still lose.. if I go over a little bit one day, I try to go a little under the next to balance to an average of 100. If you are liking the idea of Ketosis then below 50 will get you there. For other folks 50-100g of carbs is reasonable for weight loss. 100-125 is maintaining. Good Luck.

DON'T GIVE UP! Everythime you work out & get your heart rate up, you are making your heart stronger! That is good for you & your family. And if you keep pushing yourself in our workouts, you will build muscle and slowly transform your body. Your measurements will change! So don't get too hung up on the number on the scale. Focus on the choices you make each day..... did you eat right (whatever "eating right" means to you)? did you work-out? drink enough water? YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

A pound of broccoli is 30.12 grams of carbs. Atkins induction limits you to 20 grams mostly low carb veggies, and lots of proteins.

Eddie1261, MDT's comment was 25 net carbs. Net carb = carb grams minus fiber grams. You're eating *a lot* of broccoli and cauliflower, which since you're on a vegetarian diet, I guess makes sense. It is possible to do a low carb diet and remain vegetarian, must it's a bit challenging. It really just boils down to eating more fat and protein as a percentage of your caloric intake instead of carbs. Most meats and fish have hardly any carb, and fats have no carbs. For me, 70-80% of my caloric intake is fat. I eat enough protein (mainly from animal sources) to maintain muscle mass, and the rest is carbs mainly from vegetables. You're eating 16 oz of broccoli and some flax seeds for dinner. My dinner might be 4 oz of broccoli with a tablespoon of butter and perhaps a small chicken breast. For me at that serving size and eating moderate protein and high fat it's quite easy to stay under 25 net carbs. Check out my food calendar if you'd like - not all days are complete, but there are enough to get an idea.

Eddie, John is correct. I did dr. Fuhrmans eat for health which was all fruits and vegs and a bit of protein, no fat, and couldn't lose even on 1200 cals per day. I know a lot of people can. But maybe my health issues contribute (hypothyroidism , adrenal insufficiency meaning steroids every day forever). I really didn't expect atkins to work since I did it way back in the 1990s but it really does.
