After today I can definitely say, cardio makes you insanely hungry. I guess that is why they say you cannot outrun a bad diet. I took my first rest day since late last month and I am at only ~1300 calories right now and it's almost the end of my day. I was having trouble keeping my calories below 4k on the days I've been running 8+ miles.

Dang you workout a lot and run a lot. Good for you! I don't know about the factory worker example though. My dh who doesn't eat keto, works in a melting pit sweating 12hr shifts. He is 5'11 190#. He eats about 2200 -2500 cals which is under his RDI and that maintains his weight.

It isn't the same at all. I burn 6k calories. You with your workout are probably still below 2k. If I ate less than 2k while burning 6k, I'd probably have no energy for my next workout on the next day keto or not, plus my metabolism would be compromised. Also, we all burn fat in a deficit. That's how we reach our goals.

What's a dh and how do you know his average calorie count?

I used to eat nearly 4000 cal a day and maintain 145 in my 20-30s

never worked out, but worked extremely hard

Yeah working out is nothing compared to how much you can raise your calorie burn by what you do for a living, that's why while all my coworkers are gaining fat and sitting in the cushy chairs I'm riding the stationary bike or standing.

Yeah, they raise and my boss even got a couple recumbent bikes I am the only one who uses them, lol.
