Remember...it’s SUGAR, not NATURAL FAT, that is making us sick and obese. Read-“How the Sugar Industry Shifted Blame to Fat” New York Times, 9/12/16 and also “What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?” from Gary Taubes in New York Times Magazine, 7/7/02.

Obese, yes. Sick, no. Exaggeration demeans and obscures fact.

Obesity, T2 Diabetes and Heart Disease are all connected. For an indisputable number of people, if you are obese, you are either sick on on your way to being so.

The new FDA rules will put Added Sugar on the nutrition labels - that should help!

Yes, absolutely! If you purchase the occasional processed food, you have a right to know what you are eating. Accurate labeling will be a tremendous help!❤️👏🏽

Then figure out a way to get sugar in that's not outrageous. Take for example a scoop of Edy's Slow Churn Vanilla (1/2c for 100 cals) vs a scoop of sherbet. With the ice cream you get sugar, fat, and protein. The sherbet is just fruit flavor and sugar. I love sugar more than anything, so I'll find ways (including lots of fruit) to get it in. I'll never give it up. Sometimes I miss gummies a little, but I just tell myself I'll have some some other time and then the urge passes (and easily). I just won't set myself up for things I WON'T accept (like fasting, no offense), because it's asking for failure.

Intermittent Fasting works beautifully for those of us with a significant amount of weight to lose. Each day I ‘work up an appetite’. I open my eating window at around 3-4 pm and close it no later than 8 pm. I don’t pig out. I eat something satisfying and delicious and being so close to dinner, my dinner is lighter than Inuswd to eat. I have berries with whip cream or citrus fruit for a sweet. This is not for everyone. But I have found that dietary knowledge is power.

Sugar pisses off insulin--> insulin reacts--> you get fat. Simplistic, but accurate. Doesn't hold true for all people, but hey, we can't all die of heart attacks.

I totally agree about the sugar.

What is a calorie?

Sugar is killing me with inflammation. I'm trying to go sugar free as much as possible but I dislike the fake sugars even more. Training my taste buds is tough and makes eating out hard because it feels like everything has added sugar! Japanese food is my friend.

SoCallPam, sugar isn't killing you, it's a slow suicide on your part.

Well there's a happy thought.

I made up my mind no more sugar. This is my 3rd day on the diet, and I plan to lose 40 lbs. which I have lost 2lbs since May 23rd. Sugar makes my blood sugar drop. Then I can't sleep, I am depressed and have no energy. I use equal in my coffee and I drink diet orange crush. I know it has only been 2 days, but I already feel better. Good Luck to everyone!

@adamvegod1 - wow. I can't believe you said that.

johnnelson1 WRONG! Food functions like a chemical in your body. Calories are a measure of available energy. But the food you eat that provides those calories metabolizes differently depending on whether it’s a FAT, PROTEIN or CARBOHYDRATE. Eat too much of anything and you will gain weight. However, most people are not hypersensitive to fat or protein unless they have an underlying medical condition. But SUGAR is different. The body and hormones responds uniquely to SUGAR making weight gain, weight loss and weight managements difficult. Eliminating it can be the beginning of a path to true wellness.

adamvegod1 That is simply unkind. If you read about sugar, it is an addictive chemical for many. As addictive as cocaine, affecting the same part of the brain in the same way that cocaine does. For some, it’s not so easy to quit cold turkey. I keep Dove Dark Chocolate Promises in the house for those moments when I am craving a sweet. Just one of those usually satisfies. I also try to have strawberries and tangerines for the same.
