I am blown away by the amount of sodium I've been consuming. When I cooked from scratch I didn't own salt except for a small container of sea salt for that little touch. Obviously another thing I need to watch. And the carbs. *sigh*

If it comes in a can, is a prepackaged frozen meal , or “fast food” it is high in sodium. And, you are right, it is very tough to get around it. Try for under 2000 mg. Of Sodium. Some things inherently have a higher sodium content, like tomatoes. Fortunately they are now making many no salt added products. Don’t fall for the words LOW SODIUM. often times there is very little difference between the original product and the LOW SODIUM version. You mentioned that you had limited access to fresh or healthy food— I think. Yet there is a Mc Donald’s. Is there a store that is within a reasonable drive that has a better selection?

Right now I don't have everyday access to a real kitchen. Hopefully that situation will change in the future. There is a small grocery store but little in the way of organic and diverse choices. I'm taking the longer trip to the city this week where I'll have more choices. I'm excited as one thing I love is steel-cut oatmeal which isn't available here. In the summer I grow my own organic vegetables.

That does make it very difficult. Just a microwave or a one burne. What state are you in Utah or Nevada?

I thought those new bowl frozen food by healthy choice would be good in a pinch till I read the sodium content. I wouldn’t be hungry but I’d have heartburn like crazy!
