Earthlady's Journal, 31 May 2012

Not a great week foodwise as I'm really busy so it's harder to plan and cook, added to which, PMT is dragging on...and on...this irregularity must be signalling the approach of menopause, I just wish it was over with!

After the successful performance of the end-of-year show last night I was late home and I have to admit I joined my daughters in a takeaway - fish 'burger' and small fries.

My daughter is nearly better and her granny's finally coming today, to "look after" her. I called her last Saturday, she lives here and she was visiting relatives not too far away. My daughter said to her on the phone yesterday 'if you're coming back now for me, you needn't worry 'cos I'm better!' I have to admit to being annoyed that she didn't come when we actually needed her - she's quick enough to poke her nose in when we don't need her. I had to let my elder daughter take a day and a half off school to look after her sister, not ideal at all.

I would have to say that irregularity is the hallmark of menopause. Rare is the woman who simply "stops". Mine went on irregularly for a couple years...but I think the fact that I just took it all in stride made a huge difference. I mean, it is what it is...I tried to teach that to my girls, as well, and they seem to cope well with monthly ups and downs...none of that "curse" business, and what have you. I'm truly grateful to have had it as easy as I did...not sure I've EVER had a hot flash :) Hang in there! You're plenty tough enough, I can just tell! ;)

Too right, Baxie, I couldn't agree more - although it doesn't help my daughters here that one of the most common ways in Turkish to say you have your period translates as "I'm ill".
