I guess I really need to re-evaluate what I thought I knew about eating healthy/right. NOT trying to be nasty here HONEST. I see all these high fat no carb meals and my jaw drops...I've been taught/brainwashed that this leads to many many health issues. For example I have been diagnosed with high cholesterol and high blood pressure, from smoking AND not eating healthy, fruits veggies etc. AND my weight no matter how much I work out does NOT MOVE...What the heck people someone enlighten me PLEASE

working out don't move the weight, it helps toning but what and how much you eat moves the weight. I have ate high fat low carb to no carb for years. My blood work is always great. Never had any cholesterol issues no blood pressure issues. I just like to eat and when I eat the wrong things I gain weight easy. I can loose 5 lbs in a day but I can gain 6 lbs in a day. I just can't handle sugar or starch. so each to their own.

Exactly Sweet Georgia -- that's what I'm inquiring about. Like I said, brainwashed to believe one thing wondering and wanting to learn about the other

Sorry guys. This is only my second post and I have no idea how to work this app lol I've learned so much. I'm in a fb group called keto for beginners that's full of information explaining it. In 1 1/2.months I've lost 25 lbs. I'll try to find you both some more resources to learn more. How do I know once gotten responses?

Volcom it doesn't taste nearly as wonderful as ice cream of course but it really hits the spot. I used lots of ice in my glass as well. It tastes awful good.

Basically you're changing the body to burn fat for energy instead of sugar. That's the very very simplified explanation. So the more sugar you eat, the body will use that for energy first.. I keep to 20g or less a day of carbs so I just keep burning fat!

Ketosis is a state where the body begins to burn fat stores for energy. The 'ketogenic' diet is a diet that uses the state of ketosis strategically to burn fat more readily (as opposed to having readily available carbohydrates and simple sugars that would ordinarily be used first). It's important to remember that even using this strategy it is important to get a good source of fiber and vitamins often found easily in vegetables. Low-carb doesn't have to mean no-carb, and you'll burn the minuscule amount of carbs found in most green vegetables just by being awake for a few minutes. Hope this has been useful info, Trainer_1_99.

52 years old female, hysterectomy in 2009, a lot of health problems. When I started LCHF/Ketogenic diet I was using 6-8 units of Humulin R after every meal and sometimes needed boosters of it...3 days into this way of eating I no longer needed Humulin R sliding scale because my levels never got close to 200 the point I was instructed to use 2 units for every 50 points my glucose was over 200. I also used 60 units of Levemir insulin twice a day (morn/bedtime) now I take 60 units of Levemir insulin once at night now. I still take metformin 3x a day. I was on lisinopril 20 mg once a day now lowered to 10 mg once a day. My blood sugar stays mostly somewhere in ranges of 70-90 now even after eating and I have lost 45.2 lbs. lbs in 106 days on LCHF/Ketogenic diet. I do 20-30 Total carbs (not net carbs) a day. So plus the 45.2 lbs lost in my 3 months eating this way I have also lost the need for fast acting insulin and halved my long lasting insulin and halved one of my blood pressure meds!
