Monalisa Ayabulela's Journal, 15 June 2017

Today marks 22 days since I have started the journey and my biggest challenge is combating cravings especially during my period. My other problem is the fact that I lack variety and live on a limiting student budget and therefore even when I don not want to, I have to compromise on some meals.

Visibly I can see change and the fat rolls going away which us exciting cause the initial decision to lose weight was not only health related but to look good naked. I am an emotional eater and have resorted to snacking when the urge of eating arises and drink water. Its most difficult during exam period and the fact that my DPs are not what I wanted them to be has me over stressing and sleeping a lot.

I have been shying away from the scale cause I know I haven't been eating right. But I will have to face my demons and intend to weigh in on tuesday

Monalisa, have you ever tried putting a little L-glutamine powder on your tongue as needed throughout the day, and taking magnesium capsules in the evening for period cravings? I was told to try this and it REALLY helped with craving sweets (especially chocolate) during those pre-period days when my cravings were normally out of control. I am an emotional eater too, and as I started getting adequate nutrients and treating for adrenal fatigue, I started noticing I didn't feel nearly so "emotional" towards food anymore. The BEST thing I ever did for my body (weight loss, cravings, emotions, etc. was to start seeing a functional medicine doctor and explain to him what my problems and my goals were. None of the other doctors out there acted like they gave a rat's "behind" if I was feeling well (or happy) as long as my "numbers' looked good to them. I recently turned 50 and decided if I didn't do something "costly" for myself now, I'd be paying a lot more in a few years until I died. SO, I decided to invest in my life! ;) Anyway, maybe something I've offered can help you out, or at least get you looking at other option! Good luck!
