I started my vegan diet exactly three weeks ago on September 24th, 2016. I've been accommodating to a diet without eggs and fish, which is what I long for most of all. I've also tried to observe the foods that don't agree with me and the foods that most agree with me. My purpose for keeping this diary is to see how nutritious my current diet is and what I should change about it. It is not difficult to keep away from animal foods since my motivation for going vegan is ethical and environmental. It is difficult to eat a balanced diet, a challenge that I think most people have trouble with.

I hear you. I went vegan a little over a month ago. Balance can be hard in any diet, but i find it easier on the vegan diet than anything else.

I totally agree! I was a vegetarian before that for some years but I still didn't feel healthy or balanced in anyway. When I wanted to snack on something, I had cheese to go to and lots of other calorie-rich foods but the vegan lifestyle requires for a lot more attention to what you eat from so many points of view. I find myself thinking more than twice to what I am going to eat...not to mention label reading. When people see you weigh 51 kilos, they imagine you are a bit crazy looking to lose more weight. But the thing is I am looking to find balance in my diet as well as optimal weight. Unfortunately, I prepare most of my meals myself from raw foods and I can't find them in the list here. I try to find foods that are as close to what I eat as possible, but it can be a daunting job.

What are you eating that isn't on the list? I eat mostly raw and have found most things on there. I find livestrong.com has a lot of calorie counts for some of the more exotic, fruits, veggies, and grains.

Congrats on making your vegan transition :-) I'm not sure if I ever will honestly. Anyways, think I know exactly what you mean about it being a bit of a pain making homemade things and trying to enter and add up the nutritional values on here. To that end it was almost easier to look it up and then write it out in my notebook, but I have a feeling that once I have most of my go to ingredients in here it's going to make things much easier. If I don't like the existing entries available I make my own :-)
