Positive pregnancy test! Slowly kicked myself out of ketosis. Seeing the lbs go up really disappoints me, but I can't do too much about it. I'm hoping it's water weight and not fat. Can't really have breads, fruits, or starches. I tried a piece of toast, against my judgement, but had terrible stomach cramps. I think I have a gluten intolerance (before Atkins, I had daily stomach pain, bloating, and diarrhea, I always assumed it was lactose intolerance. But since starting Atkins, I have not had those symptoms, even eating cheeses and dairy.

Currently have aversions to sweets! (Yay)

I am still exercising (walking/elliptical) and lifting small weights (5-10lbs) almost daily. It makes me feel good and I don't want to stop!

If anyone has some pointers on following a low(er) carb WOE during pregnancy, please let me know!

I am determined to be have the healthiest pregnancy yet!

Did I mention I'm starting medical school in less than 3 months?!?! Totally unplanned pregnancy (birth control failed!).

I've never done Atkins while pregnant. My biggest problem while pregnant was eating everything in sight! Ugh, the cravings were out of control, and I regretted giving into them. I would just recommend trying to continue healthy eating, nothing too extreme, while with child. As far as your gluten allergy, I had the same experience. Oddly enough, sugar does the same thing to me. Once I cut out sugar and gluten, I felt like a new person! My brain fog subsided, I started losing weight and my acne vanished. Of all the advice I could give, the one thing that has helped me the most is simply logging everything I eat. It keeps you accountable, and helps you see where you need to make adjustments.

Congratulations! Your plate is full. Keep peeling the onion and don't become overwhelmed. Best of luck at school.

Well you are up for some challenges! I think there may be some guidelines for lower-carb eating during pregnancy in one of the newer Atkins books (not written by Atkins). Visit a bookstore and take a gander at these books to see if there is something in them. Do some research online. I'm sure there is no problem eliminating bread from your diet - there are other vegetable foods that have the same nutrients as grains. Best wishes on all your adventures!

congrats! I had my both my children while in college and while its hard , it will motivate you to stay on track.. I ate what ever I wanted on the 1st child and had such a hard time losing afterwards. I thought it would all come off the day I had my baby, which is not true. you lose maybe 11-15 lbs.. so talk to your dr 1st . Dont make the mistake of thinking pregnancy is a license to eat whatever.. cause it come back to haunt you. LOL

if you go to the atkins site you can message Colette and she can answer questions of how to do atkins while pregnant. They also have great nutritionist that answers questions. Congratulations on the baby and med school. I had my third child while in nursing school, and the other two were 3 and 4 years old. It kept me and my husband very organized so we did not go crazy---also i studied after everyone else was asleep.
