I read a few posts just now.
I just wanted to say: It really helps to do the weightloss thing one day at a time.
I have struggled with my weight for almost ten years now. I have tried everything, really everything. I was not succesfull for a longer period of time to keep the weight down.
Untill it came to a point were I weighed 122.7 kilo. I could not sleep good at night because I could not breath well. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol. I could not walk for more then 15 minutes at a time. I had trouble going up the stairs. I was constantly out of breath.
I had a stubborn attitude about food. It came to that I used to say: I love to eat and I find that there is nothing wrong with that. I love to cook and eat. I love to be with family and celebrating. I also thought that because I am 59 years old it's too late to lose weight and make a change in my unhealthy lifestyle.
Then I met this young men, a gourmet chef and he was starting a program for healthy eating. He talked to me and I got inspired and tought: If it doesnot help it would not hurt either. So I was willing to give it a try. I was very honest with him about my habits and lyfestile. I was eating big portions of food everytime I ate. He designed a program for me, but I said to myself and him: It is not about the weight loss but about a lifestyle change. The first week I lost 0.5 kg and I was very happy. I tought: If I can lose 0.5 kg a week it's ok. After 2 weeks, my overall body swelling was getting down. I could wear my rings again, and even one pair of shoe was falling down when I walked with it. And so bit by bit, every week a little change here and there and I was seeing results. Some weekends I had problems, I fell back into old habits. But I forgave myself because I knew I had to, because I care. Nowadays the weekends go better. I haven't been able to walk for sport yet. But that is the plan. The biggest thing is when I went for a check up and my cholesterol was way down. I know it will take time to get the weight down but most importantly I feel much more healthy than I used too and have energy everyday. I realized that when I was younger I did not have the patience to wait and take one day at a time. For those out there that are much younger than me and are struggling with their weight I want to say: Be patience, and take one day at a time. And it is normal that you are impatience because you're young. But really: it helps to take it one day at a time. Januari this year I weighed 122.7 kilo. Last week wednesday I weighed 116.9 kilo. Slowly but losing weight. My first goal is to reach 105 kg. Than the next step is 90 kilo. My ideal weight is: 75 kilo to 80 kilos. Last but not least: Thumbs up to all of you out there struggling with your weight and trying everyday to make a change.
